I have had the pleasure of (to date) playing 506 courses worldwide, and have kept a record of every round I,ve played since 1-Jan-1981.....3478 to date.
I have recorded Course,Date,Yardage,Par,Score,Cost and Stapleford points..and even a Eclectic score for each course as well..Just something the started when I was at school and was encouraged to keep going..It makes interesting reading going back through the years !!!

The best courses Ive played include Sand Hills..Neb...Pacific Dunes..Ore...Muirfield..Sco...Woodhall Spa..Eng...Turnberry..Sco...Kingston Heath..Aus...Royal St. Georges...Eng.

The hardest ..Carnoustie.(from the Tips)....Wolf Creek..Nev...P.G.A.West-Stadium...

The worst..(before its last 2 re-designs though).....The Belfry...Eng..

cool! I've played a lot of the same courses as you.  Could the course in plantation that you said you forgot maybe be plantation preserve? Or Jacaranda?

I know it wasn't Jacaranda but it very well could have been plantation preserve. Did the course nearly go under in the late 90s?

:-)
I've played more than 600 courses. I've photographed about half of them.  I had a list but lost it years ago when an old computer crashed. Too frustrating to start the list from scratch.

Been at this for a couple days...brain dead...over 360, maybe a handful more somewhere.

Best 5
PIne Valley (US)
St Andrews (Scotland)
Royal Melbourne West (Australia)
Ballybunion Old (Ireland)
Royal Dornoch (Scotland)

Best scenery:
Old Head (Ireland)
Pebble Beach (US)
New South Wales (Australia)
National GC (Mt Fuji, Japan)

Favorites:
Shoreacres
Pasatiempo
Laurel Valley
Camargo

Was fun to go through this---surprised at the length of the list, not only really good tracks, but also the number of really terrible courses I've played! Hope the rounds were at least on nice days...

Shemp--like your list...I really enjoy finding local Donald Ross gems around. Fun to see the subtle, but usually clear, signs of a Ross design. Any you recommend?

I see Prestwick Country Club getting some love. I haven't played that many notable courses (other than the Greenbrier and Nemacolin-Mystic Rock) that you all would know, but I have played a lot in my college golf career. Prestwick is definitely my favorite I've ever played! Awesome layout, atmosphere and respectable course conditions.

When is the last time you played Prestwick? I was there in the Spring of 2012, it seemed to me that it was an older course that had seen better days.

I played it in April 2009. If it has since gone downhill, that's sad news to me. When I played it, it really felt like a Scottish style course with nice greens and fairways and a cool layout with all of the fescue and such. Darn. Guess I won't go back to play it any time soon then.

Are you talking about Prestwick CC in Myrtle Beach?  I played it back in 2001.  You can definitely tell it is a Pete Dye course (ie, lots of railroad ties).  I do remember making three birdies in a row on the back nine (which it looks like are now holes 5,6 and 7), Only done that twice.

Yes that's the course I was talking about. I thought it was awesome when I played it. Maybe I need to go back to see if it's gotten any worse or my standards are just low lol I have since changed my golf vacation to the Pinehurst area and absolutely love the courses down there, especially at the price!!! You wont find better guaranteed.

I liked the course as well.  There are so many good golf courses in Myrtle though,  that the last couple of times we went back, there was really no interest in replaying it.
