OK, I didn't see it, but if he got in a golf cart, went right to the parking lot and jumped in a car and left, to me that smacks of "Oh S*&!, I know what this pain is". If you pull a hammy, you go get treatment on it right away from a physical therapist on site.  I think it's the knee and he knew there was nothing they could do for him there.

How is playing at least three weeks in a row being "extra cautionary"?

If he was to take your professional advice, he would limit his participation and concentrate on the bigger events. After all, it's not a major or wgc event...

No, you're not understanding me here. His knee is/was stronger than it's been in 10 years. If he thought playing 3 weeks in a row was risky, he wouldn't have done it, as he said in August of last year.

If he just inflicted an injury today on a certain shot, withdrawing was the smart move, even if it wasn't that bad.

I'm just speculating, that's all. We don't even know what it is yet...it might not be the knee.

Left Achilles again. But it was probably progressively moving further and further up his leg, which was why he was grabbing higher.

Woods continues to fall apart. It's a sad thing to watch. Every year at this time it seems like another piece of him breaks off. This will be the 5th major injury to that leg.

Now saying on TV left Achilles...Going to get it evaluated early next week...

Well this sounds serious, is it to early to wonder if he will miss the Masters?

Well there's the news on tigers injury, straight from CBS..."left Achilles was tight this morning and got progressively worse."

overusing other body parts to ease strain on the once injured knee?

Blame it on the shoes, I have tried running in Nike Frees and had a ton of foot and ankle problems.   Ice and rest and I was back but never again in minimalists shoes.

Lets just hope its a tweak and not a crazy rupture.  If he over used it in getting ready to play these 3 weeks, then rest and therapy will do him some good.  I would think he is now going to skip Bay Hill and head straight for the Masters.  We'll see how bad it is when he gets it checked.

The length of this thread will rival the Doral thread thanks to those that hate Tiger and roundly threw up their arms in jubilation as the saw Tiger limping.

I have had two knee surgeries and ever since I have had achilles tightness which leads to a hose to issues like tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, etc. Everything can tighten up after knee surgeries.  Let's just hope he  didn't tear it.

Statement on Tiger's behalf:

I felt tightness in my left achilles and it gor progressively worse throughout the day. After hitting the tee shot at 12 I decided to withdraw. In the past I might have continued to play, but this time I decided to what I thought was necessary.

Send regrets to his sponsors & WGC and sends thanks to the fans.

Plans to get achilles evaluated sometime "early next week."

If he is out for Augusta, it is an injury.

If he is "back" for Augusta, it is prissy drama.

That's an absolutely ridiculous statement.  You have no clue. But thanks for the TV diagnosis Doc. How long have you been practicing Orthopedic Medicine?
If there is even a hint of his knee hurting why in the he11 would he push it. A person who's had 4-5 knee surgeries probably has a good idea of when to shut it down.  He may have stopped early enough before anything bad happened and therefore still plays the Masters.
Although you clearly know much more about what all is going on.

See, the best part of posting in an open golf forum is that I don't have to care if you don't like what I say. I also don't have to make you feel better about your hero cheesing out of a tourney with a lame excuse.

You know, McIlroy seems to be the next fanboy icon. Have you seriously thought about...moving on? I know that is probably a lot of bedroom posters you will have to take down at your mom's house, but dude, I think it is time. Do it for Tiger, but most importantly, do it for Redman...the little Redman inside. The one we haven't seen in a long time...I miss that guy.:(

I can say with certainty that he didn't tear or rupture his Achilles or he would not have even been able to walk. He had some tightness and it got a little worse and he withdrew. Hopefully he can still play Bay Hill if it heals fast, but he has to be ready for Augusta.

I have massive problems with my knee's one of which i have to wear a brace while playing golf, it doesn't take much to tweak your knee when they are already shot to bits. The way he was limping and testing his knee movement by flexing it, I would say he has felt something pull and is right not to carry on and get it checked out.

Here's the official statement just released from the PGA Tour media staff to PGA Tour credentialed Media

"Sunday, March 11, 2012
Statement from Tiger Woods regarding Sunday WD from Cadillac Championship

I felt tightness in my left Achilles warming up this morning, and it continued to get progressively worse. After hitting my tee shot at 12, I decided it was necessary to withdraw. In the past, I may have tried to continue to play, but this time, I decided to do what I thought was necessary.

I want to send my regrets to the World Golf Championships, Cadillac and the fans. The galleries were tremendous this week and I want to thank everyone for their support.

I will get my Achilles evaluated sometime early next week."

I am lucky enough to have not had knee issues and I hope for TIger's sake its not anything serious.  I run a few half marathons a year among other races.  My point was I experimented with the minimalist shoes, including the Nike Free, every time I tried to run a little further I keep getting ankle tightness as well as achilles pain and tightness.  It could be 3 weeks was just too much for his leg in those shoes, hopefully a couple days of ice and rest and he will be fine.  I have had no issues since I went back to traditional running shoes

Nothing. He withdrew, same as W/D before the tournament.

Today has shown why Tiger won't catch Jack IMO. His knee and side issues that will appear because of his knee. His knee MAY be stronger than it has been for 10 years(which doesn't really mean much as his knee has been shot  for 10 years) but all the surrounding parts are considerably weaker and tighter, meaning more injury prone.

Wouldn't surprise me if the "injury" is real, but also wouldn't surprise me at all if he just faked it to get off the course.

While the frees are comfortable for a casual stroll and non-impact workingout anything that's high impact, running can wreak havoc on everything knee and below. If Tiger is flat foot or an overpronator, the shoes will suck. I don't like how he slips with them because he doesn't use nails. His back foot slipping like it has can injur either leg with someone that swings that fast and aggressive.
