ive been working on this all winter and its actually coming along nicely, maybe some of this will help.
stuff i worked on:
1) i took a lot of video and took out all lateral movement on the backswing with my head.
2) i dont tilt my chin on the backswing anymore, i try to keep my head as steady as possible
3. i turn my left shoulder under my chin on the backswing, thats it, gives me all the turn i need
4) i had a lot of success with setting up with my left arm rigid and straight and keeping it rigid and straight on the backswing and downswing. every teacher i ever worked with told me not to do this though, so maybe others shouldnt try it and should stick to the old adages of feeling a straight right arm on the backswing or feeling like the hands are far from the sternum at the top.
drills:
1) i hit a lot of balls with a towel under both arm pits
2) i did this drill where i would take the club to the takeaway position in the backswing, stop, go to the top, stop in the position i wanted and paused, then hit the ball.
3) i did lots of mirror work at home
4) i take a lot of video, it works well for me
5) i worked on tempo a lot, slow backswing and a pause at the top worked for me.

Great advice Thrillhouse. I'm trying to work on shortening up my backswing as well. When you talk about hitting balls with a towel under both arm pits, do you mean full shots? So you work on keeping both arms connected to the body? Would you mind posting a swing down the line when you get the chance?
