Yea agreed, maybe a comfort thing too... He has always liked the MRC shafts. I was surprised he was playing the Speeders to be honest, not they are not good shafts.
Your opinion! You have a lot of good info for people here don't let yourself lose credibility with statements like the above.
It is clearly WRONG from an analytical point! Fuji VC Tour Specs have much better and more consistent control related to dispersion for more players than the others and as a result I believe they have regained a dominent position on tour.
They have also been my choice the past two years for my driver and FW woods including the new RBZs. There may be longer but not straighter. Phil had his most accurate driving stats with the VC 7.2 TS. Then he switches, typical "Phil being Phil". We have seen it before and we'll see it again.

Believe he mistyped.   He meant to type "not that they aren't good" instead of what showed up.
Okay, that sounds more like I would expect from him. Sorry if I missed the correction.

Correct, I was saying the Speeders are good shafts, I was surprised Phil changed to them after playing the Mitsubishis lately, however I really like the Speeders, especially the new TS ones. They are great shafts.

Never heard it, and I doubt it on top of that.  Phil was all over the Fubuki as soon as the prototypes hit the tour back in the day.

The white shafted club is his 3 wood (fuji ts) if you look at Getty he is still using the ahina in his driver

I got my speeder last week directly from fiji.. 6.2 tour spec and after my track man session yesterday I was shocked on the numbers! Launched 1 degree higher than my F1 Motore but spun 800rpm less!! It by far is the lowest spin shaft I have hit in the past 5 years and I have played or tested them all( whiteboard, oban,fm2). Anyway the only thing I can guess is he did not like the ball flight.

This theory would be sound if he didn't move to the Fubuki Alpha last year and Fubuki K this winter, both shafts have never been stock shafts in Callaway Drivers. So I find it very odd that MRC would paint a whiteboard the same as the "New" Fubuki everytime just for Phil. It just sounds like Phil is a ho!!!

I agree, I never necessary believed this, remember the experiment with the BB 93 back in 2010... That didn't last long! If tr theory was correct they would have had that painted in fubuki colors as well.

I just started using the VC 6.2 TS in driver... love it.  Does not feel as smooth as the non-tour spec VC's ( my 8.1 in the 3wood is silky), but I cannot argue with some drives I had yesterday..
I have an 8.2 waiting for a RBZ Tour

I didn't like the way Ahina's feel...cant follow Phil on this one.

Thats really what I was thinking too, must be comfort thing or maybe the speeder was launching too high?

i doubt that he was hitting the speeders too high - i find the TS lower than the AHINA.  this is only my opinion but PM has been playing a shaft that is butt soft in the fubuki - the ahina also fits this profile.  i thought the change to the speeders would stick.  you can't argue with his track record, but if i was fitting him i would put him in something with a butt stiff profile to help tighten up his dispersion pattern.

Which is what he had in the VC 7.2, but Phil gets a little crazy about out-hitting others (especially in his money game matches). So he likely wasn't hitting that Fuji as far likely due to the butt stiffness which also probably left him with a lower trajectory.
Hey its Phil, if someone could figure him out then he wouldn't have that endearing "phil-ness" :diablo:

Perhaps it could have something to do with Keegan Bradley and Bill Haas blowing it by him at Riviera?  Im currently trying the VC 6.2 Tour Spec in my RF and it is a  very good shaft.

Wasn't he driving it well for the most part? That one drive in the play-off did come up a little short.

I watched his range session at the AT&T and thought he was bombing the daylights out of it.

You'd think the results would sorta speak for themselves. I don't get it.

Maybe teh Ahina is a little lower launching for the windy conditions in Florida whereas the Speeder worked well in softer conditions on the west coast?  Can't imagine the 7.2 launches that much higher though.  Who knows.  He's a headcase.

Yes, I believe he won at Pebble w/ the Speeder so he was indeed driving it well.
Ive always heard how PM prides himself in being able to get it out there and on the 18th in the playoff at Riviera KB and BH were flying it to where PM's ball finished. So maybe he didnt like that. Anyway, thats my guess.

Great shafts either way and would be curious how he plays with them.  Interesting he changed so quickly...I would think it would take a bit of time to get used to the new feel...at least it is for me.

I heard today that Mitsubishi offered Phil a good bit of money to put a MRC shaft back in play.  I dont neccesarily believe that but just what I heard.

Phil was using a prototype WhiteBoard in his FT painted like a Fubuki. At the time Callaway was offering the Fubuki in the FT-9. This was just a Callaway marketing ploy to sell more FT-9's. Since then he has used different variations of Fubuki's, all have been prototypes painted like the retail offerings. At one time he even put a 50 gram in play. I have a friend that works for MRC that has told me this many times.

I hit a Speeder TS 7.2 side by side with a WhiteBoard 73 in my 910 and the Speeder TS launched noticeably higher. On average it was launching higher than my Fubuki Alpha. I would not consider the Speeder to be low launch by any means.
