I'm still using a Trusty COBRA 414 Comp Driver with a Rayon SL45 shaft (very light weight), its goes really well. The shaft is only 45g, !!

Just wondering what your thoughts were on the later releases?

I might have a look at the s2 or s3 if I can find one at a reasonable price.

Cobra L4V X and Cobra S9-1 Pro D were my picks for the top Cobra drivers...and for different reasons.

L4V X was just stupid easy....it wants to go straight.

S9-1 Pro D is one of my favorite modern day deep faced drivers.   Beautiful shape and it launches/spins low drives...nothing close to the forgivness of the L4V X, but it's a joy to hit.

I would assume the L4V will take this hands-down.  The thing had about a 100 page long thread way back when.  Would be interesting to hear from someone who has compared it side-by-side with the ZL, which also was well-received.

But it seems like driver heads don't really matter that much here on WRX... personally I haven't gotten around to the shaft tinkering aspect, but it seems like everyone else is much more concerned about their shaft set-up, and then you just need to pick from a bunch of different heads that share the same characteristics and you're set.

I'm a fan of a lot of them, but my first Cobra love is the original X-Speed.  I got it when I was really starting to get into the game.  I still have it.  7.5* of pure glass-shattering fury.  I've also had/played most of what's in the list.  I still have the L5.  Still have a Speed Pro D.  Still have an S9-1 Pro D.  Had an L4. Loved it. Sold it.

I have played l4v, Speed Pro D(for years) and S9-1 Pro D and the best was the S9-1 Pro D, not as forgiving as the l4v but produce waaaay less spin, more forgiving than the speed Pro D, looks better than the original X/speed. This bad boy give's me my Mojo on when i need to crush the ball, in my opinion this was the LAST PLAYERS DRIVER that cobra release to the public. The best composite driver i've ever hit second to none, and i still believe that from 2005 to 2009, cobra and ping made the best woods in the market.

I'm still waiting for the sucesor of the Pro D, it's not the AMP, not the ZL Encore.... Maybe next year

Tried them all with the exception of the ZL, and for looks, forgiveness, and distance I have stayed with my X Speed Pro S.  It has been in the #1 spot since 2009.

I like my L4V, I like my L5V, I love my S9-1 (F, in my case), but I should never have sold my HS9.

I loved the original cobra X speed. I'd LOVE a 7.5 Pro S, HouseofForged has them on ebay for w/ their shafts for a boatload of money...I tried to buy just a head but no love...

The S91 pro S was a decent club, I had a brutal shaft in it and sold it.

Have had several Cobra drivers.  The L4V is clearly the longest, most forgiving driver.  just tried the AMP and Encore, they don't come close.

The best driver ever isn't even in your poll. It didn't make Golf Digest's Hot List either.

The Cobra ZL ENCORE  is a L4V on steriods.

L4V- it did everything right but had the awful sound.

ZL-Sharp looks, great feel, good sound, longer then the L4V but not as forgiving. How I wished it to be like the L4V with it's better feel and sound.

ZL Encore-My wish has come true. Great feel, sound, forgiveness and longer then any other Cobra I have had and I have had them all. Reminds me of the L4V because it is so easy to hit straight. It would be perfect if you could take the lime Cobra sight line off.

S9 Pro S is the easy choice for me. I did not like the D nearly as much. S had a better sound and larger sweet spot IMO

I liked my SZ400 a lot - l really learned how to drive the ball with that club, traded it for my X Speed which was a little demanding but loooong and looooud. l had a LD F Speed but l never really drove well with it. l've got an SZ400 Tour waiting for an extra shaft when l get one.

But even with the stock Cobra-Ozik my S9-1 Pro S was maybe the most consistent driver l've ever had, and plenty long enough. Of course l traded it. But at least l traded it for my current driver, so l feel OK about that.

The S9-1 Pro D was longer but the S9-1 Pro S felt better...  I bagged the Pro D last year and it was amazing. Sadly, I needed an 8.5* and it's next to impossible finding one today.  What an amazing club even with the stock shaft!

I bagged that L4V until it fell apart. Best bomber I've ever hit. How does it compare to the ZL Encore? Can't find one with an 'X' flex of any kind to test
