Well, my story, I once bought a THREE PACK of Footjoy golf gloves, and it turned out I had TWO brand new gloves already in my bag!  Help, I can't stop!!

Three pack...?  I found a glove I liked in Palm Springs last year and i bought 50 of them.   I burn through about 1 per week so I'm on the lookout for 50 more now.

I explained it to my wife this way...Some guys have affairs.  I buy golf clubs.  She usually changes to a more pleasant subject and I never again hear about that particular purchase.

Genius!  My neighbor / golf buddy has been having a two year affair.  It's really quite sad because they have three young kids and the wife is still fighting to save their marriage....anyway, I used your line on my wife this evening right after a comment about the 8 dozen srixon zstars I have stacked in our laundry room and she mentioned our neighbors affair.....said " well...I'd prefer you buy golf stuff then cheat
" then gave me a kiss...

I have several sets, and putters and drivers, yikes,  but I work part time at Golftown so we are on PUD programs and the costs are not that great.   My problem is guitars. My Avatar is less than 1/4 of my collection. I have more than 100 distortion boxes and another 40 or 50  chorus, flangers, phasers, echos, compressors, etc.

My worst hoe story though is getting the invite to play Loxahatchee in Jupiter Fla., Flew to Fort Lauderdale with a friend, drove up to Lox., Played and flew home that evening.  Said I was at a local tourney and would be home late.

If you buy enough guitars or clubs your spouse losses track!!!!  So the moral of the story is stock up!!!!!!

I bought a set of Nike irons, took the grips off, butt trimmed to the playing length I wanted, put the grips back on . . And. Didn't. Even. Play. Them.

Traded them in for another set of whatever I can't remember the next week.

Just having fun man!  LOL!  I really am a disaster with the whole hoing deal.  Today I was looking at a guys 905R and my immediate reaction was to go on ebay and shop it up.  I was convincing myself that the 7 year old driver is better than the numerous current models I have in my trunk.

What's really sad is buying the same clubs you didn't hit well the FIRST TIME!  Then you buy clubs everyone is raving about on the internet (Golfwrx..) and you don't play them worth a crap!  Being left handed, when I see a good deal (in my mind) I'm jumping on it.  Miuras are the sh@t!  Bought a used set, got them refinished and now they are in golf room #2 with the dog...

Now I've jumped on the super game improvement thing and bought a set of G10 irons because I got a good price on them.  First time I set them down, I remembered why I don't play Pings!  I'm going to give them a go.  At least three weeks..

Aside from allowing me to name my addiction (I didn't know I was a ho until I stumbled upon this place), and the support group you guys provide (thank you all for making me feel better about my purchases), one of the, if not THE best advice I have picked up came from Thrillhouse.

Whenever confronted with something by your significant other, throw something across the room and yell "Shut up woman, and go fetch me a turkey pot pie".

I've laughed my butt off at this one, told my s.o. about it when I read it, and I've (jokingly) used it many times whenever I was busted.
It's become my symbol of surrender, and takes some of the edge off of whatever I did I shouldn't have got caught doing.

Thanks, T.!

I usually use an empty water bottle, to minimize drywall repairs and maximize tongue-in-cheek factor.

As far as my story...I have roughly 10 full sets of clubs and quite a few putters...you can find some pics here (Post #163) and here (Post #265).   Pics are a bit old as I've made some changes (mainly woods and putters).   As you'll see, my wife has banished them into a storage room in the basement.   Whenever she has family or friends come over, she always gives them a tour of the house and loves to show everyone my obsession with the game (and it's equipment).

The women are always in disbelief and ask why I would need that many clubs.   The men are always in disbelief and wish they had the golf clubs...then they take a picture on their cell phone to justify their next golf purchase with their wife.

Now, the fun moment was when my wife showed my mom and she commented that I was crazy.   I personally think that was hitting below the belt...but then again, my mom probably understands my obsession since my dad is a computer ho...he owns 3 new computers (complete set-up...separate desk, monitor, audio, etc) for the sheer joy of owning new computers.

Anyway..."my name is Skaffa77 and I am golf junkie!"

Some of these stories are awesome.  I am certainly not in some of your league but I just counted the boxes in the garage storage and there are 13 of them.
If my irons ever come from Callaway there will be 14.  Rumor is possible two weeks more.
And I am thinking about a new driver.Posted Image

My personal favorite is the one about cutting clubs to length and then selling them without even hitting them.

I agree. These cautionary tales work so much better with pictures. I remember awhile ago on here there was a thread about stockpiling balls and this guy posted a picture that I honestly hope was a joke. Just floor to ceiling of probably a hundred dozen or more of different models. I immediately did some soul searching and limited my reserves to 10 dozen at any given time.

I for one have started to head in the opposite direction. I sold off three handmade TP Mills putters a few months ago and surprised my wife with a nice Christmas present. To be honest, I haven't missed the putters for a moment.

Well I decided to replace my CB2 3 wood, so bought a CB3 3 wood, then a CB4 3 wood, then a CB4 4 wood. Now I've got all four sitting here and want to try them out before I decide which ones to sell. Of course I can't play the stock shafts, right? So I bought two Oban Devotions and am looking for a third shaft so i can try all four side by side Posted Image

Amateur!

I set-up email notifications for any new FS thread in the Classified forum.   Basically, I get an email notification for any newly listed item in the Classified section...check my iPhone for email updates and then BAM...off to the Classified section if something grabbed my interest.
