I'd love to wear one while golfing to track my steps. But I haven't found any good reviews on in hand people who have used it.

Please post reviews and pics after you've received and used the product.   I'm extremely interested in this product although it will have some limitations (like most devices) since it measures activity related to the arm...ie activities on the lower body with a steady arm may not "register" as much "fuel spent".

I know Jawbone has a similar type of device (no display) that sells for around $100...I do think the Nike Fuelband "looks" cooler..

I used the Jawbone and it was junk, the comfort was nice and when it worked it was nice, but it had so many bugs no wonder they did the refund program.

Good to know.   I guess I'll wait for the Nike + Fuel Band reviews.

I just don't get the concept behind this.  Does it just tell you how active you are?  I understand that it helps promote active lifestyles but why do I need to track my movement?  I think it looks really neat but I just can't figure out why I should buy it and I normally buy just about anything :)

I don't know all the science or technical aspects on it, but by tracking your movement...it converts that into energy spent (ie:  they call it "Fuel").   If you are really active, it may help you measure the amount of effort (or energy) you are using in a given actively during a specified period of time.   If you spend "X" amount of effort in a given activity in a given time, can you increase that amount effort to reach new physical achievements?   Can it help you determine if your training is more intense or more effective.   Supposedly this is a tool to help measure your physical exertion and monitor the process of continuous improvement.

I actually track and monitor my calorie consumption on a daily basis as well as my activity level.   It's just a guide to help me understand what I'm taking in and what I'm putting out.   For those into fitness, it may offer some insight to the exertion part of the equation...I'm still curious how well it will work...

I have been meaning to look into this. Does it need shoes with the + adapter?

If so Nike does not make golf shoes that will accept it.

Nope it does NOT need the shoe adapter. I'm pretty sure it can sync up to  your phone and/or computer so you can get all your information on there as well as on the "band"

LOL...I didn't even think of this bracelet from a dystopian perspective!   Love it.   If you really want to get philosophical...consumerism is it's own prison disguised as a choice.

$149 for the band (plus shipping I'd imagine). They have absolutely zero in inventory right now. Follow them on Twitter (search Nike Fuel) as they put updates on there when they're going to sell their limited quantities on their website. The first two times they've posted them on the site they were sold out in less than three minutes. Might be best to wait until their production ramps up more hopefully around summer.

If its around by the summer...come on guys a digital thing that hangs on your wrist gives you some number that you start living your life around...sounds like a medical company would invent that not a shoe company that wants to sell more shoes because you start taking more steps...

At first glance it appears a little gimicky for the price tag.  That said I am interested and will definitely follow this thread for reviews to see if it is something that may be worth a purchase.

my wife has had it for about two weeks. A little background, she works out about twice day, mix between boot camps, running, boxing. She is very active. I purchased it for her as a gift becuase she was very hot for it. From what i have seen, its nothing that crazy special. It tracks your movement throughout the day, recording it and providing a value for that, "Nike Fuel". You set a goal for yourself and you look to reach that daily goal. To prove a point to her, if you put it on, and just move your arm up and down in a running motion, its tracks that as steps/movement. So, yes its a bit gimmicky IMO, but it keeps you thinking about staying healthy, active and to keep going. its good lights and whatnot, so it makes her happy. as a golfer, i dont see much value in it if you ride all the time. for guys who walk the course, it could be useful to "track" how much activity you have done.

Well theroretically it takes that measurement as all body functions done I believe so moving your body according to Nike is quote exercise which kind of makes sense
