Alright, apologies to LaMont for not showing off my beauty any sooner but quite honestly, I've been enjoying it too much to take the time.

Here is my Redwood D66 putter that I sent to LaMont for some custom work.
- plumbers neck cut off and replaced with a welded goose/flow neck (similar to Byron's Rincon style)
- tungsten weight inserts added to the face
- deep face milling (even on the tungsten weights)
- chocolate torched/toast finish (a beautiful antique look)

LaMont was great to work with and those that have had the opportunity to work with him know he is a professional and just an all around stand up guy.  Needless to say I love everything about my putter.  Anyone considering doing some custom work on their putter shouldn't hesitate contacting him.  I do have to point out that like all works of art, these projects take time.  Had no idea how long the turnaround time would take but just want people to know if you want it done right, be patient and give the man his time.

Don't know for sure but it was somewhere around 360g.  Plenty heavy and allows me to make a smooth stroke.  

I don't know how to explain it but it just feels so balanced where he placed the weights.  Believe me, it rolls the ball as good as it looks.

Best looking D66 I have seen! Was the custom work all your idea or did LaMont work with you to come up with this beauty?

I just wanted the weights in the face, a flow neck and black finish.  The rest was ALL him.  I love the texture on the hosel, the red paint fill with the antique chocolate finish and how he left the darkened letters alone.  LaMont is truly a creative craftsman.

are there paintfills around the tungsten weights? what's up with the one in the heel? the edge seems broken.

You cannot be serious? pretty lousy? To each his own but I think it looks awsome and that was a very rude comment.  Ping WRX work and Toms Tungsten inserts are obvious, what I see is Lamont has blended these in with the natural finish and even milled them.

Classy post, Oliver.  The effort of a back-handed compliment at the close was a poor save.
The tungsten was milled with the face.  Is that different than what PING does?  Yep.  Is it  "lousy"?  Are you outta your mind?
I see that you just had a similar putter done by Tom.  Is your love for that putter part of the issue?  I see them as two different putters done by solid craftsmen who have more in common than you know.
The "chip" you speak of, if you'll look at a large picture, looks to be the remnants of the old "REDWOOD" logo on the face.
Tom is one of the reasons that LaMont is still in putters and is a good friend of his.  If you want the smooth look on your tungsten, pay the $220 and let PING WRX do it.  If you want it to look like Tom's work, let him do it.  If you want something different than either of them, looks like LaMont made that happen.
Not "lousy", just not what we are used to seeing.  "
BTW, has anyone on this board ever tried deep milling a Tungsten plug?

What is the main benefit of deep milling a tungsten plug?

Well put, Nick.  Lousy?  C'mon, Oliver.

Originally, LaMont was going to leave the tungsten smooth but wanted to see if he could pull this off.  Lousy?  I think he did a great job.  As far as I know, I haven't seen anyone else do this.

And Nick's correct, the Redwood logo is what Oliver refers to as the "broken edge".  I would've placed the heel one closer to the heal but I think he placed it there specifically for the balance of the putter.  The balance feels incredible on this one.

Staffer, it's a visual thing.  Looks better to me but it may not to you.

That came out super nice. I have some old ping putters I'd love to send off for that type of restoration/weighting but I think my ideas outweigh my pocketbook right now

Lol, be my guest.  It's a compliment to the executor.  Ping needs to pay attention and either hire LaMont or at least add this model to their line up.  I'd buy it;)

sure, lousy is probably too harsh, should use something like "not so perfect".
I know that people on this forum don't like negative comments.
I actually do like the neck, the finish, and the paint fill a lot.
But those tungsten weights, man, I still think he could do a better job, whether you guys agree or not.

Probably will never let this one go but you could easily get the same one made if you send a D66 to LaMont.  I'm sure he'd oblige.

Matt, I don't think it's a polymer finish.  He referred to it as being "torched".

Jamba, the feel is night and day compared to the original.  I imagine it has to do with the weight and deep milled face.  It makes the harder premium balls feel super soft.  I noticed I get to the hole a lot easier and rarely short.
