Overall verdict: Too soft for my taste, but performed respectably in the short game. Slower swingers might want to take a look at this for a budget ball, but it launches very very low. For me, I will stick to the Q-star or gamer V2 when I want to save money.

+100 ...people really do need to try the U4x or U4...a very impressive ball. Its the best ball I've played in a long time...can't say enough about it.

I am SHOCKED by how POOR the durability is. I didn't read through the other posts because I'm a lazy American, so I'm not sure if this is something everyone is saying, but I saw the thread pop up on the front page and thought I'd comment.
The FIRST hole I played with the ball, I hit a driver off the tee. I enjoyed what was a solid feel and lower launch than the Gamer V2. I had a Gap Wedge into the first green from the "first cut" of rough. I struck the Gap Wedge pretty solid only to watch it fly low and lame. I thought I must have mis-hit it worse than I thought. I got up to my ball to see it "smiling" at me. I'm relatively young (28) and was just breaking into golf during the time of the Titleist Professional 100, which, when bladed properly, would leave a neat gash in it.
This was about the first time I'd noticed a "smile" in a golf ball since I was about 14. I was pretty surprised that it hadn't taken a traditional bladed shot to crack it wide open.
I went back to my Gamer V2 for the rest of that round.
Next round a couple days later. I started with the Gamer V2 through the first 7 holes, the 8th is a long (225 yd) par 3 at this course. The hole was playing dead across a left to right wind. I hit the Gamer V2 with my 3 hybrid, it started just left of the green and didn't move right a micrometer, landed pin high on a grassy mound. Confused, I pulled out another ball (no intentions of playing this ball, not a handicap round, etc) a Maxfli U/2. I tried the same shot, a 3 hybrid aimed just left of the green to ride the wind. I made a good enough swing, it felt solid, and I looked up only to see my ball flying low and lame again, burying in a cross bunker about 50 yards short of the green. Again, I thought, well, must have missed that one a little worse than it felt. I walk up and pluck the ball from the cross bunker on the way to my "real" ball and find a big "smiling" crack in the ball.
Needless to say, I'm not impressed with the U/2. I was pretty excited about them after reading about them here, no longer.

I loved both the U2 ($20/doz) and Duo ($20/doz) and think that the price point makes these balls a real killer on the course. Both are very soft, Duo is softest, and very straight off the tee. Initially I thought that the U2 has no greenside spin but it was the user and not the ball. I had a few shots with a sand wedge that just stuck. I'll be switching between the B330-RX, U2 and Duo very often. I can't tell you which ball is longer or straighter but I can tell you there isn't much difference for me between the 3. If I find the U4(x) on the course I'll give it a test but at $35+ /doz I'm in no rush to buy them myself.

I really have not played the Gamer except for early early this year when we were under water here. I still found myself wanting more spin on all shots. If you like the feel of the Gamer then i would go with the U/4. You will get more spin on all shots compared to the Gamer. If you struggle off the tee and want a straighter ball i would go for the U/4X because it still has great stopping ability. I'll probably play through the U/4's and purchase more U/4X's as the distance/less driver spin outweighs the stopping ability. The "X" version has as much spin and the non X. Can't comment on the U/2 or U/3 as they are not what I am looking for in a ball.

Played a sleeve of the U2s. I can't say I'm all the impressed. I really miss the Freak.

In my opinion, nothing is as good or as durable as the Srixon Z-Star. I would put them equal to or above the Pro V1 but below the Srixon in terms of durability. I get one good wedge shot out of a Pro V1 and then pick off the gills the wedge leave. I played a solid 18 with the U/4x with minimal wear including some wedge shots that spun so much I thought that ripped half the cover off. The cover will get marked up but I don't remember them shredding. I will be playing these this Thursday in my League where I hit drivers and sand/lob wedges the entire round. I will play with a U/4 and report back my findings. Really really happy with the ball and would love to see it at the 29-35 dollar range. It would bump all other purchases out of the bag and make sure that I bough more Maxfli U golf balls.
