funny stuff...... I hit a left over shag ball in my yard with the lawn mower.  Shot the ball through the 'glass' back door and ended up in the front room.  It had to ricochet through 2 rooms to get there.  This was years back and my shag bag had old wound balls.  There were rubber bands through 3 rooms.

Haha I've definitely hit TWO ceiling lamps in my day practicing my swing in the house. You would have thought I learnt my lesson the first time around :P

When I was young I did this several times.
1. While watching an Arnold Palmer instructional movie (looking at the screen trying to replicate his move, not paying attention)  I shattered the light on the ceiling fan.  Mom was away seeing a doctor and my father (doesn't even golf but didn't want to hear it from her about how this happened on his watch) raced to Home Depot and bought the "same" bulb and cover for the lamp and made me pay for everything, even down to the exact cost of the gas.  To this day that fan still makes a funny noise when turned on and kinda jiggles but Mom still doesn't know.
2. Again when I was little and didn't think I would reach the ceiling in my room (in my defense it sloped down near the front and back walls, I could swing in the middle)  I made a slight divot/dent w/ my 3iron when my parents weren't home.  You can imagine Mom's reaction when she comes home to me saying, "h-hey m-Mom..."
3.  This was not my fault.  I was again a little idiot kid swinging a 4iron w/ a junior flex shaft (which I had certainly outgrown)  During one swing the shaft literally snapped in half sending the bottom half of the club rocketing into the living room wall creating a hole about 3in deep and cuts and scratches all over the wall including breaking a few window blinds.  Mom was home for that one.  God was she angry.  My Dad made me repair the wall and showed me how to do it, certainly taught me not to be so stupid.
4.  Mom would also get mad from the repeated swings that would kinda damage the carpet...  Oh well, she's not yelling now.  Love you Mom, sorry.

edit: there are also several dents in the siding of my parents house and an area in the backyard where I took most of my divots where grass wouldn't grow for the longest time.

Luckily the drop ceiling in my basement was assembled by myself....I have a stash of a few extra tiles in the utility area when the need occurs.

My worst accident in the "man cave" was when sweaty hands caused the club to leave my grasp and lodge in the wall......fortunately I did the dry wall down there myself so I had some extra spackle and paint on hand....the wife just looked at the hole and shook her head......

Funny thing is right before I logged on to GolfWRX this evening I had just grabbed my old PW from the garage and was making some swings in the living room, luckily the ceiling fan does not have a light or globe...just a damn chain that occasionally gets tangled around the blades when whacked on the follow through.

luckily i have a big family room for the size house as well s 9' ceilings downstairs.
full swings with any club is no problem as long as i stay a little bit back from the ceiling fan.
as for the carpet where i swing and impact with the club. wife not so happy bout that.

Get some "almost golf" balls. Best thing ever. Fly like a real ball but without the shattering effects. I use them outside and inside with no worries. Chipping and pitching has improved out of sight.

I'm not a salesmen either.

Don't think that the garage is safe.  Many years ago I was swinging an old Ping driver when the small weight that was glued to the back of the driver head came off and went right thru the garage door.  It took a lot of explaining to the wife for that one.

I just broke the glass table top to my endtable the other day.  No more swinging in the house for me.

There are tiny ball dents in multiple room which I hope my parents never notice. The living room in front of the tv has about 10 scuffs in the ceiling from me getting into full blooded swings while watching Golf Channel instruction....and my parents don't enter the living room because at any given time there's 5-10 clubs and about 20 golf balls under foot...

The hazards of indoor practice!

Haven't had an issue with damaging the house, but my curious dog walked up from behind and nearly received a 5 iron to the nose. From that point I've made a concious effort to make sure he is laying in a place I can see before taking a swing.

i bladed a ball directly at my sliding glass door, Thank God there was one of those child gates in front of it and it just bounced off that. Im not sure whats worse though, breaking something from inside the house or managing to   break something from the outside of the house.

Through the garage door!  That's some mighty swing speed.

last night I was practicing my takeaway in the living room while watching TV, I had previously checked the light globe to make sure I wasn't close to it (I wasn't) and thought "I can't believe all those guys online who are breaking light fixtures! that'll never be me"

...

well, on the next backswing my club stopped AGAINST the light globe, literally resting on it.

I put the club down.

All of this brings a question to mind that I've had in the past.  How does one use an optishot device in the house without doing this kind of damage?

More years ago than I care to remember I was in the Pro Shop with my wife during a rain delay. We both took lessons from the pro on duty, and so were on very friendly terms with him. She was looking at a 3 wood, and he told her to give it a swing. "Inside? Won't I hit something?" To which he replied, "I can swing in here, and I'm much taller than you." On the backswing, CRASH! Surprise, she swings flatter, and caught a display rack. Put a dent on the crown. She bought the club at a significant "damaged" discount.

I just spent 30min cleaning up glass because i busted out one of the glass globes on the ceiling fan.
Did that with a mini-club and it came down on my head and gave me a big cut. I had to make up a lie about how it happened.

I broke a glass bell of a set of chimes my wifes grandmother (god rest her soul) had given her....That did not go over well :russian_roulette:

I still hear about it everytime I pick up a club in my house and its really hard not to do now, new house has vaulted ceilings, plenty of room to let'er rip....

My stucco ceiling has some nice marks in it ha. Just went out today and bought a short, weighted "club" to practice indoors with. Just tried it out and its pretty good for $20.  You can take weight out to simulate a driver too.

Luckily  for me there's hardly anywhere in the house I can take a full swing.  Low basement ceilings and fans everywhere else. I would never hear the end of it from my wife if I broke something cause everything in our house has a place. She would know immediately . Been chipping in the basement but we have so much breakable stuff. Better stick to the 3 and 9 positions and putting!!!

That's me! Hahaha... My wife's nickname is Monk, like the detective from the television show of the same name. Everything has it's place, low ceilings and fans, and I'd never hear the end of it... I do get to hit golf balls in the backyard tho, and I hit the perfect sand wedge - ball went thru the shed window.

The second she came outside, my two year old son pointed at the window and said his newest phrase at the time.. - "Who did that!" - about 100 times... Shockingly, she was okay about it, because she wants to get a new all aluminum shed. Whew!

I swing in front of the back door where I can see my reflection.  My wife swears I'm gonna take a divot out of the carpet... :-)
