Practicing in Pebble The best public (no tee time req) practice venue?

I'm staying in the area this Wednesday through Sunday, and playing 1-2 rounds at some non Pebble Beach Resorts operated courses. My question is, where is the best place to hit a bucket of balls that is open to the public on the peninsula? Can I just go to Pebble and use their range?
Thanks!
Thanks!

try Bayonet and Blackhorse course. http://www.bayonetbl...orse/splash.htm
as front 9 of Bayonet is under construction, I would suggest you go for the combo course of back 9 of Black horse and back 9 of Bayonet. Bayonet is a tougher course. i have not played Pebble Beach before but i heard Bayonet is tougher than Pebble Beach...
Good luck...

That is good to hear, actually I have those rounds scheduled already (interestingly, 1 at the course you mentioned and the other (tentative) at Monterey Peninsula CC. What I'm looking to do beyond that is practice at a range the fill some time during the other days I'm in town. Should I just go to Pebble or is there a nicer range/practise facility somewhere else?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Last time I was there, well the only time I was there the Pebble Beach range was not that good. I remember hitting balls at Spyglass and that was ok. Try one of the other courses inland. Spyglass is going to be way overpriced to hit balls at for a couple of hours.

From a Northern california local...
The range is over by spyglass... and it sucks.
Drive up to Fort Ord and practice at bayonet. too bad the front 9 is under construction.
if it's not on your list, play bayonet as recommended in the previous post.
It is way tougher than pebble, especially from the tips. (it was designed for a general who hit a 290 15 yd. fade, think Nicklaus course).
good putting green... and speed should match anything on the penninsuala , except Monterey CC and Cypress Point.
hope this helps.
PS. Go play twighlight back nine at Pacific Grove- WALK!!! It is the poor mans pebble, and worth the trip.

come to Bayoney & Black Horse GC in Seaside
why?
i work there!
haha
but really, B&BH has the better range on the Peninsula
and as soon as the NEW driving range is open, we'll have the largest one on the the Peninsula
$3.00 for a small - like half a basket
$6.00 for a large - full basket
tokens are available in the pro shop
the ball machine takes $1s and $5s
range is open 6:30 AM till 4:30 PM, except for Wednesday which is 4:00
