From earlier "he needs a haircut".
Who actually says that in 2012?
Is my dad secretly posting;)

Great swing. He walked onto the practice area at St Andrews 2010 and me and the boys were like "who's he, looks like a laid back fan found the other side of the ropes.
Then he grabbed a club, hit one and I thought this guy is one to watch, great action and solid hitter. Not quiet as impressive as Rory or Louis though...

I think what people should take from this is, no matter how technically correct or how nice grant, mac, charlie or robets swing looks, its a very small part of the jigsaw that goes into making a very good golfer

Absolutely. Lots of amazing ball strikers that have done relatively little with those abilities. It certainly helps, but just a piece for sure.

New video from the WGC Matchplay. Looks like a somewhat more deliberate drive/hold release to me. Maybe just what the shot called for?

I kind of hinted about the change (as I understand it) in my prior posts. Think he was trending towards CP and is now more inline. The changes being very slight obviously. However, I could be completely wrong. Just what I took from a couple comments.

In the face-on photo series posted earlier, Rock has a golf ball placed even with his front toe, inside the target line. What do you think he is using this ball for? Perhaps as a aiming point tool to get his hands to cover the ball at impact (from his point of view)?

I had the pleasure of playing a round with Robert Rock on the 1st Oct 2010 (first day of the 2010 Ryder Cup as it happens) before he had won any European Tour events. The round itself was crap (I played like a knob and Robert wasn't exactly firing on all cylinders!)  as it was so windy the course was practically unplayable.. the rain also didn't help :cheesy:

When he finally made his 1st birdie on the 7th we demanded high 5's and it was hilarious.. his face was a picture! (I guess you'd have to be there to understand how funny a situation it was). Anyway... we talked quite a lot about S&T and he made it pretty clear that he was working on Mac O'grady stuff after having spent some time with him apparently and was working on a centered pivot, zero weightshift backswing.. certainly not moving off the ball. He's an amazing ball striker and he seems to have sorted his nemesis (putting) out somewhat which I think is clearly what has helped him win... he 3-putted about 6 times in the windy conditions.. was proper funny! He's an all round nice fella.

I don't know if that helps the thread at all but it's great to remember such a funny day spent on the course :good: and kinda weird seeing such a great player watching the Ryder Cup on TV in a bar

Mr Waite's best ball striking years on tour were from 1995-2000.Does anyone have  videos of his swing from that period. The same question  for Mac O'grady from the 1980's before his back flared up.
