Also, what kind of core work are you doing?

I'm looking to work my way out of the Short Knockers' Club this winter! :)

Just basic stuff!
Sit-ups, leg lifts, planks, lower back stretching and that's it so far.

Great round Aubrey!  That is a great score, but on GM, it is exceptional.  Keep up the good work.  Your bag is looking great.

Thanks for the kind words Breck. On a different note I was at my course today and one of the long time employees made a scrapbook about the course as it will be under new management in 2013. (I'm really concerned the new management will ruin it, leaving me no good place to play.) Anyways, Stratton made the scrapbook!

Hey , I a huge fan. I have couple of questions

How far do you hit each club?
How high to hit your driver?
and I remember that you had a sliverish finish on G15 at one time could you make a video on how to do it or if you have done it already can just give the link

Distances:
Driver: 260
3 wood- 240
hybrid- 195-205
4 iron- 185
5 iron- 175
6 iron-165
7 iron-155
8 iron-145
9 iron- 135
PW- 125
50- 115
53- 105
58-90

Those are rough estimates not actual stats.

I hit my driver med-high ballflight but can really use any height of flight I want. If its into the wind i'll use a low ballflight.

I've never stripped the finish on a G15, but all you need to do is sand it off with some sandpaper. I'm not sure what grit to use though.

I just finished the round of my life.
I was playing my home course with a 71.8 rating and broke par for the first time (on that course) by shooting 67... With 8 birdies.

I birdied 4 of my first 5 holes, then added a fifth birdie on #9 by canning a 50 footer.

I had 12 putts on the front that equaled over 100 fee of putter (front side alone)

Birdies in the back came on 13,15, and 18 to secure the 67.

I had several drives of 260+ (good for me) and had 26 putts total. I'm still in shock, and my mind felt numbed the whole round.

I attribute most of today's success to the workouts I've been doing for my core, it allowed me to have wedges into the greens where I was able to hit it close and knock it in.

It may have been the the putting day of my life and my score of -5 smashes my previous best of -2.

great round. my best is -3 with 5 birdies. not sure i've ever put up 8 in one round. that's impressive. keep it up man.

oh, and hold your angles longer. that early release timed with a reverse hip pivot is not good for the long term. but, then again, you're already playing better htan me lol

Guess who's back?

Got my posting rights revoked but am very glad to be finally be back. Seems like it almost was meant to be as it kept me off WRX and allowed me to focus on school.
I'll catch you guys up to speed on what has happened...

First and foremost, I eeked out a 3.95 GPA which I am so proud of myself for doing. I was stuck at a b+ all year long in AP World History and barely got the A- after the final exam. WHEW! Pretty crazy when I realize I only have around 3 more semesters before I commit to a college. Also, I am branching out college wise. Before I had been all about UW, but with my recent grades, desire to become a lawyer, and overall work ethic I have my eyes set on other schools, noteably Stanford and Duke. I still want to play college golf, but education still comes before golf.

Second of all, I have grown... In the last two months I went from being 5'10" 125 pounds to 6'1" 145 pounds. Still a twig, but i'm getting really tall.

Third and most importantly for this board, my golf game...
I took the entire month of January off, first time taking a month off in a long time. Still was working out, just not swinging the club at all. Got back into the start of this month, and have been averaging 76 since, so not great but it is just the start of the season. High school tryouts in 2 days, hoping for a good, but more inmportantly fun, season.

Also equipment changes:
Got the Anser Driver but haven't shafted it up yet. The G25 is an absolute monster. Overall im pretty happy with equipment. I might snag a g25 hybrid later this year but I think thats about it.

Funny, I just looked at your profile this morning to see what had happened to you, as I hadn't seen any posts by yourself in a while.  I see in an earlier post that your golf course was getting new management. Is that the Gold Mountain complex? If so, how have things turned out? Good on the grades and good luck with the college choice. Welcome back.
FTR, I stopped at 5'9" many years ago!

Yes, it is Gold Mountain! I think everyone in the area was worried it would collapse, but its been going fine for the first two months, and it is too highly ranked of a course to fall apart. Pro shop got repainted, it is now fully stocked, food prices have gone up a bit, rates are about the same, same employees. Overall it hasn't really changed much unless you are an employee, as there are less perks now in terms of golf.

Forgot to mention I am playing in quite a few tournaments this year, including IJGT, Junior World, and US Junior Am qualifiers, possibly AJGA.

+1 today at try outs with an assortment of 15 footers (all for par unfortunately) ... Still in the lead by 6 shots.
There is also a walk to the team who is very promising, he is a freshman and has a solid swing and nice short game!! Really excited for this year of high school golf!!

it happens every so often. They are easily retrievable at low  tide. Most frequently it happens with the toughest tee shot on the "course" I made up. Forced 85 yard carry to a super small landing area. I usually am 50/50 on keeping this tee shot dry. I'll try to get a pic up but I'm on mobile right now.

Good to see you back on here Aubrey.  I am proud to hear how you have done in the classroom, keep up the good work!  Your game will definitely come around when you knock the rust off.  With you growing like a weed, have you noticed a difference in your distances?  I will bet you have picked up some distance as well with your height.  Stratton worked on fitness this fall and gained a bit of length at the same time.  Look forward to hearing your and your teams successes this year!

Loved the country club, hated the strict no cell phone policy. Got told to put my phone away texting my dad "happy birthday" in the parking lot. Course was beautiful and had some of the nicest greens I have ever pitted on. Hole #10 was my screensaver for awhile. It really does not have a California feel to it.  I couldn't get a birdie putt to drop the entire day, but I still enjoyed the round.

@deerslayer I have gained some distance, maybe a club. My 9 iron goes around 140 now.

Way to go with the 3.95 gpa. When the time comes for selecting a university, you should have the pick of the litter. And growing 3 inches with a 20lb weight gain is huge (even if you're still slim). My guess is that you gain a considerable amount of distance based on the fact that your arc will generate more club head speed. Nice bag and good luck.

I Usually don't post about my rounds, but today something clicked. Had a lesson, then went and shot a 3 under 33.
6/7 fairways (New driver in the bag as well)
7/9 greens
14 putts
Could have shot a 31, I missed 2 birdie putts inside 10 feet.
Ping Anser Driver is money!

Good to hear that Gold Mt. is still doing well....I've probably played 100+ rounds on that course, awesome track. We had all of our high school district tourneys at the olympic course back in the day. I really hate #17

Good luck with all your tourneys man, represent the NW!
