I try to listen as much as possible when the tournaments are on each week, but i really have a tough time listening to Matt Adams and Brian Katrek for any consistent period of time.

I think Matt brings a lot of knowledge and passion to his radio show "Fairway's of Life", but i find he tries too hard, especially with the use of his vocabulary and the way he speaks in general.  I suppose "Teed Off" with Brian Katrek  is my favorite of the 2 shows, but to me, Katrek is that guy in your regular group of golfers that always laughs at his own jokes and doesn't realize that he's not nearly as funny as he thinks he is.

I really like John Maginnes' "Maginnes on Tap" show in the evening.  I would have to say he has the best show of the 3 during the week.

What do the rest of you guys think?  Am i way off line with my opinions compared to the rest of you folks, or do you guys notice the same things i do when you listen?

I have XM and love the PGA channel.

I have two major beefs with it though:

1. Being primarily in the Pacific Time zone... I'm usually listening to repeats of the earlier shows, and they are completely off the air by 4 or 5 pm (if I remember right).

2. The guys on the talk shows seem to have an incredibly difficult time staying on point. BK is the worst, but they all do it. It's like they're not working from any kind of plan or outline for the show. They'll be talking about something... start to bring up a subject or piece of gear I'm totally interested in, get sidetracked into something else, go off on a tangent for 20 minutes and never come back to the original subject. Happens regularly.

All that said... I still love to listen and it does seem to be getting better.

I listen every day.  I'm in and out of the car all day long, so I catch pieces of every show.  I agree that Katrek and Adams can lose focus a bit.  Adams' efforts to wax elequent can get tedious, especially around the holidays when they promote his book and we have to listen to that crap.  When he's just Matt, he's enjoyable.  The Dewsweepers, an instructional show, is great.  I think it's only on air during the weekend.  Peter Kessler's show is good, he can get some great guests.  He made a statement this week that made me chuckle...something like "the Feherty show appeals to people who think alcoholism and fart jokes are cool."  Brutal.  The guy that I couldn't stand listening to was Michael Collins.  He seems like a good guy, but he just isn't funny.  They built him up like he was the second coming of Eddie Murphy.

I usually listen whenever I'm in the car.  I'm glad that they have a channel devoted to golf.  I do agree with most of what has been said above.  I think that BK tends to get on a subject, whether it's of interest or not, and beat it to death.  It is difficult sometimes to try to listen to tournament coverage on the radio but that stands to reason.

I will say its a lot better than it use to be, but its still far from great. They should simulcast the "morning drive" from the golf channel, which has turned in to a pretty entertaining show imo.

It's my default channel. I usually only change it when I get an alert one of my favorite songs is on, or if it's a repeat show.

I really enjoy it on the drive in and from work.  Great interviews, hate the commercials though.

Rarely and usually only by accident.  Amazing it has lasted this long.  Golf just doesn't lend itself to radio especially when you have a collection of numb nuts like Sirius/XM has...

I'll speak up in defense of Katrick and Adams. I haven't listened in
awhile but have listened on and off for years. This network has
come a long way from it's beginnings and is still, IMO, in the
formative stage.

Katrick is a club ho thru and thru and tinkers in his garage.
When he gets going on equipment he sounds like many on
here to me; like an audible Golfwrx. I like his perspective as
an amateur player who hangs with the pros. He likes to do
WITB interviews with the pros as opposed to the usual stuff.

Adams can come off as a little elitist in his "speak" but I get
the impression he truly loves this game, it's traditions and
characters. I think he means well; he was probably brought
up different than most, I suppose. He seems to treat his
interview subjects with great deference.

That was really funny the other day!

My Sirius/XM is on PGA Tour Network all the time.  I like listening to Adams, Katrek & Kessler and I agree with comments that Adams seems a little high-falutin' (but that's OK), Katrek is good but has that 'chuckle laugh' after too many a comment, and I sometimes think Kessler is going to spend an entire segment effusing over a guest saying "how good it is to be with you."  However, all that said, I'm sure my list of quirks and annoying habits is equally as long.  Good shows & each of them are truly knowledgeable about the game & have an inside track to things most of us don't.

The ability to listen is gone.  You have to have a Sirius/XM account in order to listen.  What you can do if you don't want to buy an entire subscription is just order the online subscription and pay $5.99/month (i think that's the price).  I have both an in car and online package and it runs me about $20/month i believe.

I disagree with the OP

Katrek is the best of the morning crew.... with Kessler a distant 3rd

Maginnes is good and provides a different point of view that none of the 3 in the AM do... a former tour player

I do miss Michael Collins... that dude is funny but here on WRX we are among all of the funniest people, most interesting people, best, longest and smartest golfers the game has ever seen.

I love the channel and put it on anytime a live show is on

How is it again that you disagreed with me?  I said Katrek was the best of the morning shows.  Also, i never claimed to like Kessler more than Adams or Katrek, as his show puts me to sleep.

Collins was good on the tournament coverage.  I'm pretty sure he left to go work for ESPN and has yet to be really implemented into their golf coverage, but we will likely see more of him now that he season is starting to heat up.

Matt Adams is a bit pompous....tries  too hard to come across as some sort of intellectual wordsmith

Do Like Brian though, he seems like someone who just likes golf.....

Kessler is a bit of a fossil for me......old and past it.

but overalllmits entertaining enough......

No, doesn't work. Absent access through established account, or free trial, can't get regular programming.
