Hey Guys,

After some rather crazy months I got the word that at the end of the year I will be relocating to Florence SC. Does anyone have any experience with Florence?

I'm really excited about the move. I really enjoyed the year I spent in Augusta, and I'm sure I'll like Florence all the same... it will certainly make year round golf a lot easier!

Well, blow me down! I've been a member here since July '05, and yours is the last question I ever thought I'd see here. Nevertheless, I'll do my best to help you out. I'm from near Sheffield (North of England) and moved to Portland (Oregon) in late '97. I spent 2 years there until the soddin' rain got to be too much, so I looked for work in sunnier climes and ended up in 'Flotown' (as the locals call it).

If you don't mind saying, where are you coming to work at in Florence? I don't want to start running my mouth, then find out you're going to be my new boss!

Any specific questions - golf or otherwise -? Fire away, Pete!

Well if Pete's you're new boss and he acts like he does on golf forums, he'll bust your b***s for like 4 months, and then you won't see him for a year.

Best of luck, Pete.

Thanks for the feedback, HipCheck, I appreciate it. :drinks: I'm actually 99.9% certain that Pete isn't coming to Florence to be my new boss, but the Production Manager where I work is leaving mid-Jan. 2007 and I know that they've made an offer to someone from out of town. I work for a global company, and apart from the hospitals, Florence doesn't have too many large employers. I'm hoping Pete will clear everything up when he :read: this thread.

Fear not I won't actually be working in Florence... I'm in the steel business so I doubt you'll be working with me.

I'm glad though that I found a resource in the area!

So whats the scope on golf... is it best to join or go independent? Which of the courses are worth checking out?

I think we are going to do an apartment for a little while till we get everything sorted out, but if you know of any rental properties let me know.

And finally how about nightlife... my girlfriend and I are fairly sedate, but I do require I well tapped pint a couple times a week.

I'll be down there weds, thurs, friday next week checking out some places.

thanks parkinni, we'll have to make some plans to play a round once I get settled.

I'm a recent transplant from So Cal to Aiken, SC and have really enjoyed it so far. Oh, btw, it snowed here today :beach:
