OK guys the summer is slowly coming to an end, at least for us midwesteners, so how was your year? Did you play well, ok, not so good? Did you score any awesome clubs? Give us a story!

My Driving is REALLY stinking. I'm getting an awful push-slice that's really causing me to lose distance, and get VERY aggravated. :diablo:

Otherwise - things are rockin'!!! My short game is working well, putting's going OK, and irons are hitting VERY nicely, with solid impact, and good long distance.

Scored some good clubs this year as well:

* Re-finished a Scotty ProPlatinum MidSlant Newport 2 by the Scotty Restoration studio. Beautiful putter!
* HO'd a rare 34"/340g Scotty Studio Stainless Newport Beach
* HO'd a set of Tourstage Z101's in good condition from a local guy who never played them anymore.
* Sold a lot of my old inventory - hopefully to good golfing homes.

I've had a good year, but being from Dallas we have several more weeks of the hot stuff and several months of really good weather. This was my first full year as a member of a golf club in more than a decade. Needless to say, I played my best golf ever. I've had 10 or so rounds under par and my index is +1. As far as, equipment I'm still hitting an R7, even though I had a G2 for about two rounds. I got a set of Mizuno MP32's and my dream putter Ping Jas Anser. Also, took the 4 iron out for good, now I have two hybirds. Long irons are for suckers.

I've had a great year. This is the first year I've actually started taking more interest in the sport, and certainly the first year where I've been more focused on striking the ball and not just beating it around the course. My scores have gone from the high to mid 90's to the high to mid 80s. Taken some lessons and dramatically changed my swing profile. I've also seen my swing speed increase by nearly 10mph just from mechanics.

I've scored some pretty sweet deals on clubs lately, and my bag is nearly complete (I'm no ho, sorry). Got a set of practically brand new MP-30s for a hair over $400. I'm about to snipe me something brand new from Ebay for next to nothing.

Best part of all:
I found this place. I want to thank all the people behind the scenes here at GolfWRX, and all its members for creating and continually evolving the greatest golf forum on the web.

Golf game stinks. I have gone from a 4 index to a 6.1. I have had a few shoulder problems that seem to be getting better. But, then I found out I have mono. No clue as to how that one happened.

Biggest problem is no consistency at all. With a 14 month old at home and helping with my older daughter's softball team, I have not had time to play or practice like I need to. The one weekend that I got to play twice, I shot a 72 followed the next day by a lovely 83.

No new sticks. Bag seems to be pretty well set.

RollerCoaster of a game this year. My last three rounds, 76, 89, 72. I was playing about 18 holes a month. Was not enough. I am hopefull that the remainder of the season will be good, I have some big golf events coming and I can't stink at them.

It's been a great year. I really focused on my swing and knocked 4 strokes off my handicap, and am much more consistent. I still suck (relatively speaking) around the greens and dedicate almost all of my practice time to that area now.

I'm not a big OEM guy (as you can see from my sig), so I don't have any of the latest and greatest. I cracked the face on my favorite driver (Nakashima) and picked up a Snake Eyes 650T to replace it. Didn't lose any distance and it seems to be a little straighter, but it just doesn't feel as good. My best move was replacing my 3 and 4 irons with hybrids.

So-so year, but a great last month so this year is just beginning for me. Plenty of rounds left this year, at least 20.

Driving is going through slump right now, have some crazy hitch at top with driver and 4 wood, equipment is good, wife has decided to take up game :D , have a good starter set on the way for her. Handicap is going to take a hit as we have lost our corporate membership so Public golf I am back. Man the past 2 years of private golf was pretty darn nice, but we have put together a traveling 4-some and there is some good public golf here in the Atlanta area and we only missed a few days of playing during the winter last year. Fingers-crossed for another mild-winter..

Had a good year going from 3 to 0 handicap. Always had a good short game but this year my long game has really improved. I've become a very consistant player. Bought a lot of new stuff this year(Callaway Heavenwood, Callaway X-Tour-been great! :D ) and still planning more.

Game has been getting better and I feel like I have dropped quite a few strokes off my handicap. The rounds in the 70's have been coming more consistent and hopefully one day I'll shoot in the 60's. I have started to become a Ho in the making, I've gone though three drivers this year after cracking the face on my trusty old R510, only started driving the ball well again after finding a used Tour Issue R510 w/ an Iverx shaft for only $55. Also bought a new putter.

Good topic!

Very steady year for me, I've stayed right at a 0 hdcp with minimal fluctuation however I haven't hit the goals I set which were to play at least 1 round without a bogie and to take a few rounds deep (into that ~66 range). I've been close on both of those but haven't gotten there.

My hoin this year is beyond nuts...can't do that again next year, not enough cash.

Not a great summer. I play year round, but during the spring & summer usually see my handicap come down 3 - 4 shots, since I hit the ball high and need the softer greens. This year only a one stroke difference, may need to practice and play more to get the usual easy results. Don't get old, it does not do a thing for your game.

I had one of the most inconsistent years ever. Low round was 69 (-3) and high round was 90 (+19) :vava: :vava:

Last year I was 1st in money in my club ($1100+), this year I think I won around $300 :bad:

I've picked up some sweet clubs that are in my bag for a while to come. Smoothie 5 wood and 7 wood, TS-202's, R5 TP, 60° Black Y-cutter and my custom Bobby Grace 6.4K :man_in_love:

You have just about the nicest bag I've ever seen. :D

I started the year at a 15.4 Index and am now a 14.3, my plan for the summer was to get in the single digits.......Neva Happen! We just finished our club tourney, and I sucked big time, this was in no way due to my equipment, if it were, I'd have changed it. :D

Low of the year, 76, high or 91, even at 14 handi I feel I can par our course, par 70.

My golf game had plateued in the beginning of the year so I decided to take some lessons and start practicing instead of my usual one round a week. My game went downwards until I finally got used to my "new" swing. Slowly an upturn was noticable and I was really enjoying hitting the links at least four times a week. UNTIL....a pinched sciatic nerve in my back. I've been off the course for over a month and a half now. I'm finally able to bend enough to putt. Hopefully with a few more treatments I'll be able to get back out there in a few weeks. I swear, even bad golf is better then no golf!

Driver was so so ... short was game good until I re-injured the old elbow in May and now off of golf for a few more months. I'm in the market for a new driver once back to playing again. :diablo:

You could get a set of those TS 202's and you could put some graphites in them. :D

Lots of guys are putting down the r7 TP, but to be honest, this is absolutely the best driver I've ever had, this year is the longest I've hit the ball for a long time. :bb:

i have been very happy with my golf this year.
My handicap had dropped 7 shots and am getting close to a single figure handicap.

like most golfers my round is all based on my ability to get up and down from in side 110m. when i chip and putt well i am always in with a chance.

The best thing i have done this year is get a cleveland comp driver which has been sensational. with it i am averaging 75% of fairways which always gives you the confidence to hit lower scores.

In case you didn't know, once you've reached 60 or more, you are allowed 15 or in some cases, even 16 clubs in the bag. :D

Ever since I've gotten those TS 202's, I've put the 3 iron back in the bag and dropped my 9 wood. :bb:

Carry On! :drinks:

p. s. Haven't you ever been to a basketball game? They have lots more players with them but they only play 5 at a time. I may have lots more than 14 clubs, but I'm only playing with those 14, the others are my bench.

Went from 1.8 to over 6 so the year was not very successful...have yet to get the putter going...I think the most birdies in one round has been 3 and that only once...not sure but I think that the first round of the year when it was 34* with 25mph winds froze the putter solid and hasn't thawed yet..but I still have a couple of months to have some fun

Went from a 4.0 to a 0.8 handicap and really playing well. Scored a few TG's for cheap, and a Mizuno Cameron for just over $100 :D .

'This has been a very indifferent your for me. It started out great in May with a trip to Myrtle Beach with 4 great golf buddies. Played 7 rounds , 3 rounds I played real well, my best was a 77 on a par 72, which is my average good round. I play to a 5.4. In June I found out I got an eye infection, due to contacts I think , which took me off the course for over 5 weeks. It's finally almost 100 percent better and my game really has suffered for the lack of play, but am looking forward to the rest of the summer and fall. I just got new MP32s last december and have only used them part time. I do like them , but now have my eyes on the 735cm's.

Gradual improvement over the year. Shot quality has definitiely improved, and I've learned to trust the swing and view it as a process and not a result. Tournament scores finally started coming down to respectable levels and the old handicap, even with wome outrageous scores has drifted down to 1.7. Ah yes, the one plane is good, back to swinging the club like I did 25 years ago.

How about your game?
