So - took this......
Grabbed some of this other stuff I have......

And decided to see what I had in me today.
New for 2012 TaylorMade R11s head vs. my 2011 gamer head, the R11.
Both heads were set up identical, same set up of weights in heel & toe, same FCT & ASP settings, and obviously the same shafts noted below.
Each head got 12 swings -
-6 with the UST VTS Silver 7X
-6 with the MAtrix Tour Radix 7321X
Would post my copied PDF email here, but the "average" lines I printed with data was dark grey, and none of the numbers are visible. So having original in my hand, here's the results taking the calculated averages into account......
CLUB SPEED
R11s w/Matrix vs. R11 w/Matrix
WINNER is R11s by 3mph
R11s w/UST vs. R11 w/UST
WINNER is R11s by 2mph
BALL SPEED
R11s w/Matrix vs. R11 w/Matrix
WINNER is R11s by 3.45mph
R11s w/UST vs. R11 w/UST
WINNER is R11s by 3.2mph
BACKSPIN - LOWEST TO HIGHEST
R11s w/Matrix vs. R11 w/Matrix
WINNER is R11s with 210rpm LESS spin
R11s w/UST vs. R11 w/UST
WINNER is R11s with 213rpm LESS spin
This lead to the R11s carrying MORE for me, averaging in the 6-9 yard range given similar launch angle.
It also resulted in R11s total distance being GREATER for me by 7-13 yards given similar launch angle.....little more roll from less spin and flatter descent angle.
Some thoughts -
AERODYNAMICS: As can be seen by the club head speed increase, there is a definite improvement in aerodynamics, pretty significant considering the club head is even bigger which should create more forgiveness. Also, with the weight port receptacle design, there is no protrusion from head, very aero-friendly. So awesome job with the aerodynamic design.
SPIN: For the people looking for an R11 with a little less spin, here it is, plain and simple this thing will spin a couple hundred RPM less than R11. Another tester saw even more spin reduction than me over R11, he was in the 325-350rpm range if memory serves me correctly.
ADJUSTABILITY: WOW - between the new ASP, and 1.5 degree increment sleeves, you can slam this thing wide open (6 degrees open), or slam it shut (6 degrees closed), almost anyone can fit into this driver as long as they partner up their new driver purchase with a proper fitting session.
Keep in mind, all shaft sleeves will work, as mine are the 1 degree angle/.5 degree loft increment sleeves of the past.
Hats off to TaylorMade on another amazing driver
If you are looking for a better R11, this is it, TaylorMade delivered with the new R11s.
