I've been told that you really need a soft tip shaft to get the 7.5 useable or hit the ball with a VERY high ascending impact angle and have a swing speed greater than tour average. At 9.0, the head is still very low spin. If you can stand the weight of the shaft and the stiffness works for you, then you might have a winner with that combo. The 43 has the softest tip of the C.Kuas.
That's what I heard as well. I hit the 9.0 with stock stiff against my 8.5 razrhawk tour with a voodoo xvs7, and got the same launch and spin numbers. I was contemplating the 7.5 but after seeing that I stuck with the 9.0 and am going to put the xvs7 in it, going to be a sick combo!!!
Sounds like a good looking setup.

I don't know the details but they are making mine with 2* open face angle. I'm sure if you ordered through a good account, they could get you one.
Wonder how they do it (opening the club face). I'd be really nice if you could post a few pics of your 290 when you get it.

They either cherry pick a head that's 2 open or they shim it that way. I will definitely post some pics.

No, I think in many cases other companies pay guys not under contract money to play their stuff. I have to ask, who cares what anyone else is playing? If that's the standard you go by, then you should have an R11S in the bag by this weekend. You can't get any safer than a TM driver if fitting in is so key.
I have had all 3 Hibores,(My son hit the monster for a while too) the Launcher DST and liked all but the HIbore XLS. the DST is a BEAST! The new cleveland classic is a deep faced bomber according to all I have heard and read.

The Cleveland driver doesn't appeal to my eye, but that being said I've hit it and it performs quite well. To your golf digest comment, they will put in anything that company a,b,or c pays them to put in.

The bad thing, i still felt that i got the same performance, not as much forgiveness, but overall same trajectory and distance with my R5. I was really hoping that this was going to become my new driver once it went on sale, but alas i'm still looking for something that gives me a sense of better performance than i already have.
One thing I will say about Cleveland is I love their Mashie Hybrid. It performs out of every lie i put my ball in (which are many) and sends the ball high, long and it lands soft. If anyone on this thread is in search of a new hybrid, stop looking and go buy the MASHIE!

they play the club they hit the best. why do you think they all use the TM or 910D drivers. almost all of them use one of those two.

I haven't seen one that didn't look shut to my eye. I can't do anything but hook it, so I haven't really swung it more than a small handful of times. It seems like lots of people on WRX are really raving about this driver, but I haven't seen one sell at the local Golfsmith.

It's probably the only driver I'm truly interested in trying this year, does everything for me, from looks to specs to shot shape. Love, love loveeee everything about that head, just can't find one anywhere around here to hit and don't want to order without hitting one first.

Well I hate closed face drivers or whatever head that looks closed. (i.e : I thought the G15 looked way too close for my liking)
But the 3 290's head that I tried all seemed dead square to me. I'd be even more interested if it was 2* open.
Seems like the 290 has something over the Tour head because most if not all of the staffers are going with it. That thing can really kill spin. Paired with a low spin shaft, it must be freaking long.
