Hey Guys,

Just thought i'd share this with everyone. Don't want to give too much away as there will be some testers and stuff in the future. But since i trust Serge so much and have used his putters for the last couple of years, i basically forced him to sell me one ahead of retail LOL.

What do you guys think? It's 375g and will be 33 inches. It's the new mid mallet offering that will be up on his site a little later on in the year (http://www.deschampsputters.com/)

I'm a big fan of his work and ordered one of his blades shortly after joining the site. I also own an HT prototype aswell that was done slightly before the official release of the anser style HT. But to me this is his best work to date....just a sexy take on the mallet (it's available with a short flow, center shaft or long flow). Mine is as i called it "super duper ultra dark antique", and Serge was nice enough to sign it for me on the toe

I've said it in the past but i'd recommend his work to anyone....will post some initial thoughts later on next week

I am assuming this is not to be gamed with the Sig and all? Or are you just going to have him resign as needed?

Can't believe how dark that finish came out on brass. So solid looking!

Looking forward to hearing more next week. congrats.

Sorry, I am all for the little guy getting kudos when they do something worthy, this one misses the target, for me.
Not a fan of the finish, nor the way it bonded to the neck much differently than the head.  There is something about the shape that does the same thing, misses the target.
I hope you make a ton of putts with it and the fact that you are happy should mean the world to you.

that's cool, no worries. I don't have the putter yet so i'm going to post a bit more once i've seen it in person. I actually really like the finish though, i should point out that i requested it to be like this, and that it's not a standard offering from Serge. I own 2 other Deschamps and they look fantastic in person with the bead blast or marble finish which is more common. I'm sure this one will too. I actually like the look of this one a lot but everyone has their preferences and i respect that

Oh yeah, i'm gaming it as is. I asked him if he could sign the back cavity but there wasn't enough room. I thought that would look really cool. I actually think i may prefer it where it is though. From the back it'll look totally stealth, as you can see there are no markings at all except for the sig.

I'm really excited to get it and start rolling some putts. I was a big fan of the odyssey #9 and this is pretty similar except custom

The signature is CNC milled into the face and paint-filled with Tamiya silver. Not going anywhere.

Thanks for the compliments!

I understand. Both the head and neck are oxidation type finishes and won't appeal to everyone. Head-shapes don't appeal to everyone.. Like Jeff mentioned I offer bead blast and satin finishes that are completely uniform.

Thanks for your feedback.

Jeff, I just want to give you kudos for handleing that well. You didn't ignore the comment, yet you didn't say something snotty like "Thats your own opinion, keep it to yourself". I'ts not to often than someone handles it like you did so props to you for that.

As for me, I definatly like the head shape but am only partially in love with the finish. (80% in love). I hope you roll it well!

Yes it's pretty much exactly what i wanted, at least from the pics Serge sent that's what it looks like anyway. Like an aged black. One thing i'll definitely say is i thought both my previous putters looked even better in person then the pics, so i'm pretty giddy to see this one in person!

I think the finish fits the head shape. I like the old look finish on the modern take on the head shape.

I have never owned a SD putter, but I want to say this about Serge. It is a major feat to be a successful putter designer. Perhaps more so in the boutique putter world, but to build the equipment that the product is built on and bang out all the CAD programming and SolidWorks designs is amazing. To say he is impressive, in my book, is an understatement!

Many one putts MtlJeff. Serge, great job!

You're making me blush here.  (cool) Even though the mill was a massive amount of work, to me it is worth it. I leaned so much and improved my problem solving and creativity a lot.

Thank you very much for the compliments. It's funny that you bring up me being an artist, I've started sculpting again (in clay). Hopefully bring some of that artistic mojo into the putters.

Hey Guys,

some updates, got the putter today....

First things first, i said above i thought it would look better in person....and it does. Wow Serge even with top notch photo equipment the pics don't do it justice.

-It's darker then it looks (still looks like a super-cool faded black, but it's darker then the pics indicate)
-The signature is smaller then it looks in the pics, it actually looks really cool and would still be fully visible with a ball in the middle. it's just right size
-The head shape kind of looks a little off in the first pic, but it doesn't at all in person. It's not as rounded as say, the Odyssey #9 which is more of a half circle, but it looks amazing at address. It just works
-I actually really like that the neck is slightly more faded....i don't know, it just looks cool. It will stand out on the course. It looks old and new at the same time

I rolled some putts with it too on my mat...really good. Clicky feel, but still maintains a bit of "softness" to it.

Serge you've outdone yourself again! (BTW, i didn't ask but do i need to baby oil this badboy like the bead blast, or do i just let it age naturally?)

Jeff

Pretty awesome that you can get a totally custom putter for that price. And from the homeland to boot. (bad Canada pun, I know..)

At first glance, I didn't really like it much.. but the more I look at it, the more I like it.  I agree with you Jeff, I think the pics do not do it justice, when I look closely (and judging on Sergizmo's previous work) I know the shape is not off on it.  I like the vintage look of the putter, kind of reminds me of how Bell & Ross and Panerai watches are making "vintage" trendy among watch collectors.

I think you need to take some better pics and post them :)

only been able to use it on my home setup here since it's winter, but it feels awesome. I have a blade and an HT aswell and this is similar to the HT. The blade is a little less forgiving so gets a bit harsher if you don't roll it super pure. This and the HT at least to me feel softer all over the face.

I'm very excited to roll this outside. I always wanted a heavy putter similar to the odyssey #9. This will be in my bag all year for sure

i'll post some better pics soon, my camera battery is dead and i'm sitting in a really comfortable chair with a JD and Coke and i ain't getting up. Trust me i know what you guys mean, some guys like different looks and this is definitely "antique-y", the hosel is a bit different colored then the head, and the head itself is not rounded, it's more of a half lemon. But it really, really works, you have to see it in person. I wouldn't trade this putter for anything on the market, it's subtly sexy. This putter is like that Zooey Deschanel girl, the more you look at it you're like, wait a minute, actually pretty hot

Anything new on this thing Mtl?

I'll be working with Serg as one of his testers...I am sooooooo stoked about this.

I have been very fortunate with equipment connections, so it takes a LOT for me to be excited about a golf club...and I am STOKED about this opportunity!!!

Oh cool! Serge was mentioning he was going to have a few testers. I actually checked with him before starting this thread because i didn't want to steal you guys' thunder. But i couldn't wait until the putter was officially released, i wanted it now LOL!

not much new, i still love it. Best i can do is my putting mat indoors aswell as mt virtual golf i play every week. But my last 2 virtual golf scores were in the 60's...whatever that means haha. I guess it means i can putt really well into a screen

It suits me really well. I'm glad i got the 33 inch because 34 always felt too long for me. And i'm really impressed with the feel. Mine is 375g so i wouldn't expect it to feel as smooth as it does. And if you have any experience with Serge, the mallet is the best feeling putter to date. If you get one in lighter weights it will probably be even better
