My daughter is a college golfer on a scholarship, her coach has mentioned they get deals on Ping and Taylormade, does anyone have any idea if there is a hard and fast rule as to the percentage off these two companies give to college players or does it vary from team to team ?

Wouldn't the coach be the best person to ask? It seems that TM gives 20-40%, but it applies only to students attending golf schools.

When I played college golf (I graduated 2 years ago) We couldn't get anything through Taylor Made..The best companies to go through were Ping, Callaway, and actually Titleist. I don't have the exact percentage of the deal but Callaway was definately the best.

It's usually 40% off cost at what's called PUD pricing (Personal Use Discount).

Which is a great deal. I work at a club and get everything at cost and I got a set of 710 AP2s 4-PW for like $550 brand new. I mean if you can actually take advantage of those deals they are a great way to save money. I doubt they give stuff away unless she goes to one of the better golf schools in the country then they might actually just give stuff out.

Ping? The OP must have his eyes on the new I20 gear ;)

Careful though. Your daughter can get in serious trouble if she is caught sliding PUD clubs your way. The OEM's and coaches will usually red flag any order that is outside the specs of the player in question.

We used to have Cleveland and Titleist.  Cleveland had better pricing than anyone at the time, we got 50% off wholesale and all of our builds came through the Tour Department.  Now that I help out with the team, Titleist's costs have come down and Cleveland's have gone up, so they offer about the same kind of deals relative to their retail pricing.

I got mine thru a buddy on a college golf team. My 690.MBs 3-P were ~$280 back in 2003/2004 (I think that's the year).

Nike is a very common company that caters toward college programs... more often than not, the highlighted prospects / college players can get a free trip to the Oven and get fitted for clubs at no cost... thats my understanding if there is a deal with the specific college (not player)... but there are some players in college who play specific brands and the brand with front the cost if they are a highlighted amateur but its not an "endorsement"

When I played in college we got great deals on TItleist. Vokeys were around $35. When the 909 series first came out we got the fairways with exotic shafts for around $100-$125 and Drivers for around $200.

depends on the level of the school and the connections they have. Some individual players get free equipment if they are ranked high enough.

I play NAIA and we have deals with I think 8 or 9 different companies and get anywhere from 30% to 50% off cost. Just ordered a combo set of Titleist Irons for $400.

Titleist and foot joy give college players better prices than taylormade and Adidas. I think it is about a 15% difference between the two
