Tiger Woods has made it official: He'll play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am for the first time since 2002. (And, of course, the site of his '10 U.S. Open win.)

Woods made the announcement Monday on his website, just one day after PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem spoke about the state of the tour in 2012 with Tiger back in the winner's circle: http://golfdig.st/yjnPtN.

What do you think—does Tiger Woods playing the event make you more interested in watching? Or would you be watching, regardless of whether Tiger's playing or not?

Yes, more interested. His past performances there make it a potentially incredible weekend.

Frankly, it's the only way i'm interested in the event, other than to watch the back 9 on Sunday. Personally, i'm not a fan of the event, because of all the celebrities who would rather entertain and make jokes with the fans, rather than play good golf.

Just my opinion though. Having Tiger in the field will definitely cause me to tune in much more frequently.

I was going to watch anyway, but the question is, what celeb will be paired up with him? Bill Murray would be my choice! But it will probably be Romo like it was rumored, which of course is OK too.

I'm an addict with respect to watching golf on TV.....however, I hope they are fair with respect to the coverage, i.e. we don't need to see every single moment of Tiger's round.

Here's hoping they actually distribute the coverage.

It will get me to tune in a bit more. I usually just watch Sunday afternoon though I did give it more time last year in hopes of seeing MPCC (which received limited air time) early in the week. With Tiger playing MPCC, those of us who aren't able to access the course will finally get a really good look at it.

I always tune in. It will be interesting to see who his partner is.

With Murray it would make the ratings the highest the PGA Tour has ever seen outside of Tiger's majors. It would be great for golf. It'll be Romo though since all of the rumors are pointing to that.

Interesting. Not normally an event that Tiger plays. Wonder what the motivation is....Image? Course? Sponsor? Amatuer partner? More "reps"?

Don't hurt yourself trying to figure it out. End of the day it's a golf tournament (on a legendary course no less), it's what the guy does for a living. Just another chance to win a trophy.

Tiger Woods is still the biggest name in World golf, so yes it does make it more interesting - especially with the encouraging form he showed at the end of 2011.

I really hope that Tiger plays a full schedule this year (>20 events worldwide). Five or ten years ago Tiger was so far ahead of everyone that he could take three weeks off then show up and win but I think he's at a disadvantage if he doesn't string a few tournaments together now.

Isn't everyone excited at the prospect of Tiger going head to head with some of the young bombers, Rory, Dustin, Gary Woodland etc??

I'll record it & watch Tiger's shots. FF through everything else.

Sponsor of course.

To answer the original question, it makes me less interested in an event I wasn't at all interested in anyway.

Glad he's playing, good news for the event, but I would watch
it anyway as I would any other event.

Would have watched it anyway, but this is both a blessing and a curse. I like to see him play and hopefully he will get back to his best, but as has been mentioned umpteen times, the saturation Tiger coverage is incredibly frustrating.

Don't worry, I won't hurt myself thinking too much about. Just makes me curious. I remember reading/hearing that a lot of pros love the course, but the pace of play for this event is tough to bare. Doesn't seem like a "typical" fit for TW.

Outside of just curiousity, I'm planning to visit a buddy in Tucson during the Accenture World Match Play Championship. TW skipped Torrey Pines which he normally plays (previously sponsored by Buick?), so it makes me wonder if TW will attend Accenture considering they terminated their endorsement with TW. I would think being a WGC event, he would play, but his first few tournaments haven't been typical of previous years.

I plan to attend regardless if TW plays or not, but I would love the opportunity to see him "live" once.

Not everyone.I have never had an iota of interest in Woods.I do acknowledge he is one of the greats. His attitude and demeanor just aren't for me.

As long as the cameras don't follow that gawd-awful CHRIS BERMAN around, I'll be watching regardless.

The only day I watch of these pro-am events is the last one when the ams aren't out there anymore. I can see people hack it up and act like a jack a$$ after a shot (good or bad) in my own foursome at my home course.

I would watch it anyway but this definitely makes me more excited about it. I'd much rather watch overly heavy coverage of a well-back Tiger than a bunch of scrub C-list celebrities hacking it around.

No, because apart from the scenery, I find this the second most annoying tournament of the year. Yeah, it's Bill Murray.

There are 20 something less players this year than last, so the pace of play should be better.

I hate the pro ams because I see no reason why I would want to watch ray romano play golf on tv. I would probably really enjoy watching this event if they never showed the amateurs. Ill probably watch some because its cold here and I have nothing better to do but its not like im looking forward to it in any way.
