pgat tour superstore is closing out these blemished shoes. They basically look new.

I like the premiers but I've heard the leather soles get heavy when they are wet.

Any reviews on these shoes?

Thanks.

As with all good leather, if it gets wet, it absorbs water. These FootJoy Premiers and Classics are one fine shoe, they are on the heavy side but very solid from the soles up. These shoes are the ultimate for those who run their shoes over to the insides, I forget what that's called but both these shoes have their purpose besides good looks in golfing shoes.

I haven't ever heard anyone who's had a pair of either of the top line FootJoys say much if anything bad about them other than being a touch on the heavy side.

Try them, you'll like them. :drinks:

p.s. There are all kinds of leather preservatives that help repel water, moisture away from that fine leather.....USE IT!!

Give them 2 -3 rounds. After that they'll be totally comfortable. With a lttle care they will last forever. And they're still the best looking shoes out there. At blemish / closeout prices, you can't go wrong. That "too heavy" remark is BS.

I think the term is called "over pronation" and it's a great point. The Dry Premiers are the most stable pair of shoes outside of hiking boots I've ever worn.

If MrParr1Noid is purporting BS (never seen it happen so far), then I'm right there with him. It's kind of silly to call someone's opinion BS who posts a picture of his own extensive shoe collection.

The Classics Dry Premiers are noticeably heavier than other shoes. They're outstanding shoes, very comfortable, but not my first choice if I'm walking 18.

As mentioned, you've got to take care of them, stuff them with newspaper after playing to absorb excess moisture, shoe trees are a must, and keep the leather cleaned and oiled and you shouldn't have any problems with water, not to mention a pair of shoes that will last for many, many years.

However, if you constantly play on dewy mornings or in very wet conditions, I'd opt for the Classics Tours since the synthetic soles stand up to water better. JMHO.

:stop: The Premiers are heavier but it really doesn't bother me. Whats a couple of extra ounces? I've walked 36 in mine on a rainy day, on a hilly course, in a USGA qualifying tournament. Oh, and I carried my own bag. No Problem. :ok:

I have both and prefer the tours - I find them slightly more comfortable and a lot lighter. You cannot beat www.golfshoesonly.com to buy them from, and they have some great deals thru a certain auction site ;)

classic tours most comfortable shoe i have ever worn, and i love the styles.
the premier's are classy looking, but how often do you look at the bottom of your golf shoe,
the comfort of the classic's puts them way ahead.

I second this post, on both counts. Golflocker.com offers the "blems" at $150, and you can't tell the difference. They carry the full manufacturer warranty also.

I prefer the Tours over the Premieres because I had a pair of Premieres where the sole cracked at the ball of the foot. It literally cracked the entire distance between the two spike ports. No problems though as FJ replaced the Premieres with a brand new pair of Tours. Great customer service from FJ if you have a problem.

I'd go with the Tours as you get the benefit of a slightly lighter shoe with the same types of leather uppers as the Premieres. FJ Classic Tours are the shiznit!!!

I'm a severe supinator (high arch, walk on outside of foot) and the Classic Tours are much more stable for me after break in. Premieres seem good for pronators after break in.

Ever notice that most great golfers are pronators, have lower arch??? :vava:

I really enjoy the Classic Premiere shoe.
This was the first shoe I was able to wear right out of the box without blisters or any other discomfort.
I too, have a pretty high arch - but the 'E' wide gives me enough room to lace correctly.

As has been said, this is truly one of the sharpest golf shoes around.

My heel blister issue has put me through a bunch of shoes, aside from the Premieres, the only other shoe that I've been able to wear off the shelf is the Adidas Tour 360 - although that shoe is a bit soft.

thanks for everyone's help. I couldn't decide so I ended up buying something completely different. I'm crazy, I know. I bought a pair of ecco classic crossfires.

The picture actually doesn't do any justice.

Although, I could still see myself buying a pair of Dry Premier's now that I have my "wet weather walking shoes".

i had some crossfires and had to get 44 when i really needed a 43 wide but since they don't do wides.. i was screwed...

won't go back to ecco because of that... and i still think the classic tours are more comfy.
