Same old same old, if you had one Vokey you've had them all, obviously with different stampings.

The TVD is a different grind, but updated with the SM4 grooves.

Can't find any info anywhere else - are the TVD SM4's the same swingweight as the standard SM4?

Is the M grind on the SM4 54, 56, 58 & 60 degree wedges the same as the TVD grind on wedgeworks?

I'm inclined to say yes.  I have the old TVDs and thats the grind they have....but that wouldn't explain why you're paying 60ish more dollars to have a wedge with just less logos and etc. on it.

http://www.vokey.com...our-grinds.aspx
See... "MORE INFO" under each grind....

"The TVD grind is a variation of Voke's original Tour Grind, the M. TVD stands for "Tour Van Design" because it was a request made by many Tour players. The TVD has an M on the toe as a homage to the M grind."

If you're a righty, then some of the bounce/grind options are the M; however, for us lefties the only 58* version, the 58.09, has an "S" grind which doesn't offer as much versatility as the TVD. Thank goodness Discount Dan's has a wonderful deal on the TVD wedges without any stamping, which is what I'm going to get!

I think the grind is really similar, but they call it a variation. So I'd assume there is some change, but to how much, I'd be curious to know myself.

I'm curious how much different these look at address than the regular sm4's...I can't seem to find any side by side comparison pictures.

Anybody?

How do the 200 series wedges compare to the tvd and retail SM4? I love my 54* TVD and just ordered a 60*.... I am considering replacing my 48 degree XFT with the 200 series

God your avatar is annoying. I will help you out anyways....

Biggest difference and the reason that they are still around is the head shape. Read this article200 Series.

I just bought a set of TVD's 52/56/60 and the 200 46° flows perfect with the TVD's. I might endup picking one up but I want to see how I like my CB pitch first.

I currently have the TVD's in the black oxide finish and love them! The black will start to show wear but it doesn't turn bright silver, it stays pretty much dark. They are the softest wedges I've ever played!!! I have them in a 52 bent 51, 56 bent 55, and a straight 60 to go along with 1 degree strong irons! The only thing close to these is the Tour Edition Scratch 1040 wedges.

The 200 series has a full bounce grind, different head shape, and previous C-C grooves.

The TVD and SM4 features the M grind (The SM4 actually has more grinds available, see Vokey website).
Also, the new TVD and SM4 has new and improved grooves compared to the 200 series.

The 200 is a great head, but the new SM4 and TVD provide much more spin.
You can read more here if you're interested: Vokey website

Clearly we are betting each other again when we face you guys next season...this time the loser will have to sport the avatar for the remainder of the season!!!!! You just picked out your avatar when you guys lose :)

Im wondering if I should go 200 series Vokey or SM4 for my PW...help?

I think I am leaning towards the SM4

Honestly you cannot go wrong with either. My fitter at TPI recommended the 200 series for me simply because it spun a little less and I seemed to hit it better. I love the head shape of the 200.

Yes, DD's offers the custom options. I went with the clean back, which looks incredibly sharp. I play the '09 pre-groove rule 54*, and I notice almost as much bite with the SM4 - it's actually perfect. Sometimes I feel like the '09 spins a little much.

I need to go to the range and just hit a bucket with it to learn the feel. It's a fantastic wedge, and it will definitely help my game!

I have 52 58's oil can from last year, i have coked and torched them

For those that have never used the TVD/M grind .. turf interaction and sand play is magical.  Though they do spin a fair bit less than the prev, non cc wedges

Thinking I might try one of the new SM4's to compare

If you are listening Titleist - pls make a 62.07 in TVD SM4

Joel, if I could have ordered those (cue lefty disease), YOU BET I would have. Incredibly sharp, and black ox!

I'm probably just going to hang out on the BST :D. There was a set of TVDs in 52 or 56 and 60, black ox, just recently that is prob sold by now. I like the M grind, but if I need a 48-50 deg, the 200 series would be the choice.

Isn't the M grind only good if you play high bounce wedges?

I play a 60.04 and a 56.11. What benefits would a M grind give me? This is a legit question because when I go look at normal SM wedges, it says a 60.12 has an M grind and that bounce plays too much for me.

Also, are there any other benefits to the club...I see a lot of people mention softness and increased feel so is that the overall consensus (tvd > regular SM with regards to feel or is it negligble)?

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking forward to any answers.

I believe the TVDs are a mid bounce club. Around 8 I think. I don't like a lot of bounce and love these wedges. Can hit nearly any shot and tight lies are no problem at all. If they had a lot of bounce, those tight lies would be tough.

But why can't you just take a 4* and play that? I have 3 60* wedges, 2 60.04 and 1 60.08 and while the 60.08 is okay for me, the 60.04 is great. I can feel the 60.08 bouncing (which I guess it's supposed to do) but it feels weird to me so I'm trying to figure out whether the 8 degrees of bounce on the TVD will feel the same way without buying one, if that is even the right move.

I should also mention that it doesn't matter the conditions I play in, wet, dry, firm, soft, I can play with 4* bounce in any condition as I grew up playing it for years. I would in reality prefer less bounce because I never **NEVER** dig or hit a shot fat with the 60.04 and feel that bounce sometimes when I don't want it to. So, would a TVD be for somebody who can't "play" a 60.04? I mean play loosely as in obviously can hit it, but digs with flop shots or bounces of the ground with a higher bounced wedge or hits fat from time to time as the extra bounce would aid them.
