You speak the truth, looking at the same one myself.

Hi!

As soon as I get the NP 2 I will change the color so that it is all black. Does anyone know if the PVD finish wears off if I use nail polish remover the get out the old color?

Thanks.

Why would you want to take nail polish remover to this work of art??

Perhaps I did not make myself clear. I don't want to remove the PVD finish. I only want to get rid of the red color from the dots and the grey and blue font color to make these black. I am worried that if I use nail polish remover to get out the red and grey color the finish could wear off but I don't have any other ideas to get it out. Any other suggestions? Or does anyone know if I destroy the finsih by using the remover? Thanks.

A pvd finish (like on these) will not be effected by acetone or nail polish remover.  The purpose of a pvd versus black oxide finish is durability. It should be real simple to change paintfill.

Use a Q-tip dipped in acetone. No mess and very neat if you're concerned about the finish.

Got to roll this at a demo day today.  Was surprised the rep had a LH (and 34 inch which is what I use) along with a couple others.  I really really liked this putter a lot!  The feel was awesome, couldn't really tell the difference between the new California series in terms of feel.  Really liked looking down at the black finish though, fit my eye very well.  Also, liked the blacked out site line a lot, fits my game very well.  In person, it is a darker/sharper black than the finish of the putter, so it does stand out.  This is hard to describe but while it does stand out, unless you are focusing on it, it blends in very easily.  This helps my game a lot as I tend to follow the putter head back with my eyes, so the less going on the better on the head for me.  Basically if you want to see it, it is there, if not then it disappears pretty easily.

The rep said April 1st, as others have already mentioned.  However, one thing did strike me as odd and I don't know if any others can confirm or deny this but he said they would be limited.  I am guessing he was just trying to sell product but he didn't do this with anything else that I talked to him about so the comment definitely caught me off guard.  Carl's Golfland is a pretty respected shop within the Titleist network as far as I know and they get a TON of product in stock with a lot of guys in the area that are Scotty ho's (some on this board I'm sure!).  That being said, the rep said they would only be getting about six a month in stock?  This made no sense to me, only thing I can figure is Titleist hasn't produced a ton of these but is trying to get them out to the market asap so stock may be limited initially?  Like I said, I was a little perplexed by this as he wasn't "salesy" with anything else I hit or discussed.

Rolled it side by side with a new PT3 as well, and honestly I have a tough decision on my hands.  Both putters were very comparable in terms of feel and look, and I liked the finish a lot on both, hard to believe there is almost a $100 difference in price between the two honestly.

timbo08 thanks for the report.  I recently heard the same thing about availability.  Basically they are creating some artificial demand by limiting production at least at first. There will also be the 1/500 run and these may come out in April with the more general release in may. Bottom line it is typical Titleist stuff really (and especially Scotty) limit supply to drive demand and make it more exclusive.

To me the blacks felt softer but I'm sure there will be differing opinions on it based on individual differences in perceived softness and sound.

I had sent in my order for a Cali Del Mar last week, then friday I get a response from my rep "Are you sure you don't want to wait for a Scotty Select?? Black Finish??"....
Needless to say I got on the forums, did some research, replied saying "Yeah, you've forced me to change my mind, make that a 34" Newport 2"

Can't wait!!!!

Did they appear to have the high toe set up that the previous Select line had?

It sounds like the report on the limited availability is correct. Several people on TCC are reporting that Titleist reps are saying that they will be very limited the first two months. That accounts are being limited to 4 putters total for the first go around. It can be any combination of models, but 4 total putters.

They are the same head shape as the previous selects.  Only real difference is the deep milling and black finish.

Rubbish options for lefties. If you don't want a plumbers neck or a mallet you're out of luck.

Disappointed.

as a lefty i have learned to live with limited options. however, it would be nice if they would change which models are available in lefty with each line. i love the standard newport but the last few lines of putters scotty has come out with only offer the newport 2 in lefty. it would be nice to have the chance to buy a different head shape every couple of years. i dont think they have offered a regular newport in lefty since the mil spec, no studio stainless, studio style, studio select or the new cameron select. i can live with one model out of five being available in lefty if it was a different head than a newport 2. now that the rant is over, i do like the new selects. i just will be buying a monterey instead.

They are UP on Scotty's site!

http://www.scottycam...ily.aspx?id=146

And it sounds like the bigger retailers will get more of the supply up front with the smaller shops being limited at first.  So if you want one early big retailers may be the ticket if you don't know someone.
