So I've been using the Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord grips with the ribs/reminders for years.  Ever since they make them only in the BCT versions I've noticed they don't last as long as they used to, i.e. they get slicker, faster, and even with washing them with soap and water and drying with a paper towel (paper towel sticks to the cord and makes them a little tackier) - they still get slick again pretty fast.

Has anyone found something comparable as a replacement?  I was going to re-grip a couple of wedges to test some others with some Crossline Cords or even the PING ID8 Full Cord - those were my only two thoughts...any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

There is the Lamkin Tour Cord, which is different from Crossline Cord. I think it is a little softer on the hands than the CC.

Check ebay, they still sell Tour Velvet Cords on there. I play the TV Cords too, after one season with the BCT's I went around and snagged up all the TV Cords I could find for the exact reasons you listed.

I am in the same situation as you, loved the old TVC, hate the new BCT its like cord for sensitive hands.  Anyway, I recommend the crossline cord from lamkin.  If anything, they are more aggressive because of the added texture and there is the same amount of cord as the old TVC.  I got them for less than $2 a grip during the golfsmith blemish sale.  The tour black cord are also nice but felt a little slicker than the TVC, still lots of cord though.

I bought some crossline tour elite cords , which im no sure were ever on the market, maybe a tour only. They are fantastic, i would say they are like black crossline cords, not the tour black which doesnt have the crossline pattern. Lamkin also used to do a crossline classic cord which was wonderfull but impossible to get hold of

i can see why some would like the BCT grips, but for me they wear down on the left thumb area quickly

Id say the lamkin crossline tour is pretty close to the old gp cords, the crossline tour is the one with lamkin in yellow writing and a subtle alignment line, theyl be my next grips

Golf Pride V-55 Victory Cords are close to the original TVC.  I played TVC's until they changed to the BCT and have had success with the V-55 Cord.

Is the V-55 a non BCT cord grip?

Yes, at least I think they are.  I bought a couple from Golfsmith a few months back and they were the non-BCT type grips.  Golf Pride may have converted them to BCT though, I haven't paid attention too much to it recently.

I am in bad need of new grips for my irons so I'll be in the market in the near future.
