Oh ma... Isn't it funny how all new equipemnt threads start off with the haters

White clubs - HATE.
Adapters -  HATE.
Persimmon - HATE.
Carbon Fiber - HATE.
ETC ETC ETC ETC

and now ..... the marketing wizards have now declared .....

ORANGE - HATE.

I literally heard from a COBRA guy that just literally laughs at you guys ... They did their homework - They have a plan - and I HATE to tell you .... Pssssttt - They are going to sell every freaking one of them

Oh by the way .... All that HATE you marketing wizards spent so much energy bashing White / Adapters / persimmon etc etc etc etc ... HATE to tell ya ..... They ALSO are going to sell EVERY FREAKING ONE OF THEM.

Don't quit your day jobs marketing wizards ... Your success Geiger counter seems to be slightly off    :russian_roulette:  :russian_roulette:  :russian_roulette:

So some stiff sitting in an office did some homework and thinks that the orange clubs will fly off the shelves.  Who cares?  They start these threads to get opinions on new clubs.  And guess what?  Seems like everyone hates them.  I don't care if Cobra finds 10 million kids whose parents will buy them these things because Rickie Fowler has them - They are still hideous.

So are these going to replace the S pro line?  Is that confirmed?

I highly doubt this will be the end of Cobra, either way.

Has anyone considered the orange is for ladies clubs and the mens will be a different color?  I won't pass judgement (as if anyone cares) until I see them in person.  One shot in a golf bag isn't enough to form a good opinion.

I would bet RF's irons won't look like these!

These clubs don't interest me and that's fine, I don't expect to love every product that any equipment company introduces!  What I have a problem with is you stating that executives at Cobra "laughs at you guys"...in case they/you have forgotten, "you guys" are the ones that buy their product.  "You guys" are the ones that purchase these products for our sons and daughters. "You guys" are the ones that purchase and supports Puma Apparel as well.  So, I would say that an attitude like THAT, will be what puts an end to Cobra Golf, not the fact that their line has been met with VERY lukewarm reviews.

...Or maybe they just have the wrong person touting them (putting words in their mouth) on this board???

If this is what Cobra's marketing wizards are putting out it's time you had another meeting with them.

The nigh-on universal verdict is that people here don't like them.

EDIT- is it ever a good idea to "laugh" at the customer?

Robo, if you are the unofficial spokesman, you may want to be careful. Don't want to do a good job of quickly turning people off of your brand.  :vava:

not for me... hate the weight plugs in the sole and the "AMP" is oversized as well.

Kind of liking the orange, though. I bet they will perform and sell.

Has Cobra even made a set of irons that sold well in the last ten years?  And yes, I own a set.

I am a huge Cobra fan but these look horrible ,  that said I will try them, as for selling
ever set.. I will lay good money that these will die a quick death unless Cobra re badges them.

The reaction to these irons is reminiscent to the reaction of the new Cleveland driver when the first pic came out: hideous, disgusting, etc.  Then the Golfwrx crew did their magic and people were tripping all over themselves: "I can't wait for this to come out", "count me in for two", you know, the typical soiling of the pants.

I don't know how anyone can form any opinion of a club based on a grainy picture taken at an angle that makes the club look deformed...but that's just me.

Hopefully, some better quality pics will surface soon.

At least the can doesn't have the "LOOK AT ME" orange+ HUUUUUGE letters all over it.To me the iron scream "I NEED ATTENTION".I prefer a very subtle design & i don't care if the cobra rep is laughing about the comments...........

You left out OK St and Clemson fans . I'm sure they are designed around Fowlers choice of color. I would have to paint them myself.Cannot stand orange on clubs.

What is the target demographic for these?  They're orange, so I'm assuming they are for the Rickie Fowler/Justin Bieber crowd, but are they for low handicappers?  Anyone pulling these out over the age of 21 are sure to be riduculed nonstop for 18 holes.  If I was 17 and getting in to golf because of the whole Rickie Fowler movement I could see getting them, especially if Rickie games them, however, if they're for low hcp's then it wouldn't make sense, would it?

I guess I'll get ridiculed considering I'm 2x over 21..even if I'm far from a Beiber fan or Fowlers long hair.

I have a Puma stand bag...looked at the color choices offered initially and figured if I was going to order one I'd get the loudest color IMO that they offered so I got the orange.

I loved the S3 Forged irons that Cobra came out with. They are the ONLY set of irons I've had in the last 8 years that have lasted a whole year in the bag.  The S3's have completely shut down my urge to ho...until I heard a few months ago about the upcoming Amp forged irons being made.  I had not even seen or heard what they were going to look like but I put a standing order in to with my rep to get the first set availble to me in my specs.

As it was when I got the S3 forged irons...they weren't the name or the look that I had gotten used to or had yearned for.  Read that as NOT JDM and NOT hard to get. (I admit I was a club snob )After trying the S3 Forged, that was all I needed to get over my personal feelings about a brand that I would probably have picked last to play for a year.  With that experience completed...for ME, I'm really excited to get my set of AMP irons.  I don't care what it looks like. With the success I've had with the S3 forged irons, I'm becoming a Cobra "fan boy" and not ashamed to say it. With their recent offerings, they've totally changed my opinion of them being "my fathers" club.  I can't wait to try anything new they come out with. They work well for me.  :drinks:

I kinda like the orange.  Its different than any other offering.  Hell there is a line of clubs called Rocketballz with a Z was only a matter of time for orange, diff color grips, neons etc.  They made a great play to the younger golfer.

Its about selling products not having the cleanest iron possible.  Most people want a clean iron that goes 200 yards off a 5 iron and that isnt going to happen.

My best guess would be at the Hyundai tournament of Champions in a couple weeks but hopefully sooner, I'm pumped
Just to clarify, I DO NOT have any insider info, I'm basing all this on what I've read in different threads on this site and others. It might have sounded like I did earlier. I just don't want to deceive anyone :good:

The orange doesnt bother me much, not as much as the big AMP written across the cavity. Maybe they will offer different color options for the badging, that would be cool in my opinion...just a thought

I am not a huge fan of any bright colors on my clubs however if they are going after a specific young group I understand that. My personal opinion is that low handicap players and country club players will not purchase these (I don't mean anything negative or condescending about that).  I can see players at my local muni gaming these.

Remember Cobra is in the business to make money - I believe that the younger generation players love the colors (think about all the bright color shafts, shirts, shoes and bags you are seeing).

If I was thinking about marketing to someone like me (39 years old) I would have AMP removed or minimized and I would put the shaft labels in Orange - maybe also the grips.   I would definitely consider them...I loved the Cobra Pro MB's though.
