Anyone had Old Riply?

Also found a bottle of Angel Envy Cask Strength Port Barrell for $299...that’s $100 cheaper than I have found in GA.

Thoughts on either bottle.

Found me a 1/2 gal of Weller 12 in TN so grabbed that.

Old Ripy is a WT product, no good. It's a cash grab release, in a 375ml no less. sucks.

AECS should be $199, and its not even worth that. It's pretty good, but nowhere near worth the $199 MSRP.

I was reading about it and it is made with 100% corn.

What did you hate about it?

What bourbon are you fond of

It just tastes like young unready bourbon to me.  Some people like that taste.  I donít...  But, I hate cilantro with a passion, some people like it.  Itís really up to your taster.

I like a lot of BIBís, single barrelís, & barrel strength stuff.  Some of my go-toís right now?

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof
E.H Taylor Barrel Proof
Stagg Jr

Four Roses Single Barrel store picks
Sourced Willet bottles (Johnny Drum, Pure Kentucky, Old Bardstown, etc)

Just finished a bottle of Stagg Jr and just picked up a bottle of ECBP. Really impressed by the EC, excellent sipper. Wish it was easier to locate Stagg Jr in Michigan.

Did anyone pick up the new KC Cask strength Rye?  My local store had it for $80ish but I passed.  Curious if anyone has tried it yet though.

The liquor store down the street from my office has the Weller Special Reserve (green label) for $30. Anyone recommend? They also have Weller 12 but it's $119 now...didn't that used to be in the $30 range?

SR should be just over $20, but if you havenít tried it & cant find it thatís not rape prices.  Now that being said, that 12 is rape.  And yes, itís around $30 msrp.

Iíll let him answer your question too, but Iíve had some success with some store barrel picks.  The Full Proof is the hands down winner in their line.

When you say full proof are you referring to single barrel bottles

I believe Full Proof = Cask Srength = Barrel Proof. Etc.

Not in this case...  There is actually one called ďFull Proof.Ē

There is a Small Batch, Single Barrel, Bottled In Bond, Rye, Port Finish, etc.  The Full Proof is a little over 120 ABV.  Technically itís not a Barrel Strength because it is cut before bottled.  Really good, none the less.

I've got a few favorites... But my "Go to's" are Four Roses Small Batch for sipping and Four Roses Yellow Label for any mixed drinks. Love both for the price!

Just got my hands on a bottle of Weller 12 year.   Supposed to be the precursor to Pappy and very similar to Rip Van Winkle..   And it is a lot cheaper.

Incorrect info.

Weller products have always been available in parallel to 'pappy' products, but historically have not been the same less being from the same distillery.

Weller 12 is the exact same liquid as the Van Winkle Lot B 12 year, and is completely different than the Rip Van Winkle 10 year. The only difference between Weller 12 and Lot B is that Julian Van Winkle 'hand picks' barrels, from Weller 12 stock, to be used in Lot B.

it's really good but i wouldn't pay much over retail for it. hopefully you got a good deal on it. i've seen where some places are selling it like it is Pappy (I haven't had a sip of Pappy so don't know the hype).

Call me weird but I prefer the OWA over the W12. Both are solid for the price point though.

I really like it. It is wine barrel aged, which isn't for everyone, but at $39.99 I haven't found anything I like better.

Unfortunately itís not wine barrel aged. They actually pour Port wine into th me whiskey. Itís basically a liqueur. Way too sweet for me.
