Man I can't wait to get mine shafted, though I'm doing a combo set.  I got some Aussie Blades for the short irons, and Rev's for the long irons.  I too have not decided on paintfill, I'm going to tinker with one of the clubs I'm not going to shaft and see what I come up with...

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I am currently reshafting my black dots with some original rifle 7.0's. When taking out the original s300 shafts I notice there is some sort of extended ferrule down into the countersink in the hosel. OP, are the white ferrules you installed just standard ferrule and if so what did you use to fill the gap around the top of the hosel? I'm tempted to use standard black ferrules with 2 chrome rings and fill the gap with epoxy but not sure if this is standard practice for these hostels? Any help would be greatly appreciated for a first timer to golfwrx!

Just got finished sticking in some Precision Rifles myself - gap in between the shaft and hosel is quite normal albeit there is a possibility you are using .355 tips as opposed to .370 parallel that these sticks require?

I'll post a few pics of my set below.

Pics of my old set that I dug out of the closet, cleaned up and repainted. Stuck a set of 6.0s in there to replace the old R300Us (I bought these when I was 14!) and then finished off with red GP corded TVs. Cost?

Heads: Nothing
Shafts: $30, pulled and bought on a popular auction site
Grips: $3 a piece so $24 total

I used skills I have learned from this site so am thankful to everybody on here that shares their knowledge to help others enjoy this craft.

I still have the set that I picked up from Mr Maxfli a couple of years ago. They are, I hate to say, my go to set. Last year I had the 2011 TM MB/MC's and by the end of the year they were sold and I was back to playing the Maxfli's. This year I'm giving the Wishon 575MMC's a go. Keeping the Maxfli Rev black dots just in case.

Like someone else said I'm guessing they were shafted with .355 shafts instead of the .370 that they are.  The ferrules I used were just standard .370 ferrules that sit flush.  If you want to use .355 shafts you can always shim them to fit and you should be fine.

I'm debating reshafting mine with a set of C-Taper's I have sitting around, but I'm going to wait and see how the Adam's CMB's do with the same shafts first.

Anyone know what the BBGM on these irons are?

I measured and am getting about 1"
I, too, love these irons!

I'm looking to build an MOI-Balanced set of clubs with DG S400 AMT's.

Rookie mistake:  I'm measuring an assembled club and forgot tip trim for the 3 iron, which is 1". (DG S300 Parallel)

So, assuming tip trim is done to spec, then BBGM would be 1+0.75" = 1.75"

I'll have to update later when I have the head pulled on one of these.

UPDATE: BBGM for Maxfli Revolution Black Dot is 1.25"

Edited by geochitown, 17 October 2017 - 04:52 PM.

Lead Tape on Driver to GW
TEE XCG7 Beta @ 11.5 with TP7HD Firm tipped 2" at 43.75" (CANNON!)

TEE XCG7 Beta 22*H with Diamana Thump T93 Stiff untipped at 38.75"
TEE XCG7 Beta 25*H with Fujikura FitonMRed Stiff tipped 1.5" at 37.75"

Update after measuring last night:

this BBGM measurement of 1" assumes that the 3 iron was tipped correctly per DG rec's (1")

I believe it's a valid assumption as my three 3-irons 1st step all match up :-)

I will be having heads pulled, so... more will be revealed

SORRY FOR THE THREADJACK

I can make a separate thread if that is more appropriate.

So excited to see folks still showing love for these.

Been in my bag for almost 4 years now

I could have SWORE there was 2 layers of copper plating under the chrome.

Im trying to track down the 2 iron, but being left handed I doubt they made a 1 iron in lefty.

As far as paint fill, they look great with no paint but black still in the "dot"
Revos were very big in Australia back in the day and from memory you are correct. They had 2 layers of plating under the chrome; copper and nickel. The idea was to give them a soft feeling like forged without the expense of production. Did a fine job imo.

Update to your quote of my quote. I found both a 2 and 1 iron in lefty to match my set, brand new in plastic. Dont have the balls to hit them though lol
