As much as I'd love to try a Cleveland forging.. These are to busy for me and that turns me off.

They should hire someone from Bridgestone who designed the graphics(or - lack thereof) on the j40 line.

Really, I wouldn't exactly call these plain, but if you really think they should hire their graphic artist.....j40satinwedge-800.jpg

I think the new Cleveland stuff looks pretty good. The cavity on those CB irons give them a Mizuno-ish look.

Our local Cleveland rep came by a couple weeks ago and brought in the new 588 irons and 588 wedges. I've never really been a big fan of Cleveland's products, but I have to say these clubs looked fantastic. The iron set reminded me a little of the Titleist 710CBs and the wedges reminded me a little of Vokey wedges with the winged looking logo. For me the asthetics of Cleveland's products have always been a huge turn-off for me, but these new clubs kinda turned me on!

I think David Toms' wedges have been personalized a bit, which may give them a busy look. Here are what the new 588 wedges will look like.

I could do without the gold paintfill. Thankfully nothing a little paint remover can't fix.

first thing I thought of when I saw those irons was how much they reminded me of the J33cb's. I'd love to see them in person. Very nice

No, it's the 26 stampings on the back that make the clubs with any paintfill color look busy.  :)

theres some empty real eastate on the sole they could have filled with something......

Cleveland realy have you done any consumer testing before putting these products out?

maybe they just don't want to appeal to the golf enthusiast.....

No doubt.  If they lost the logo (I have no idea what it's supposed to be, but it's ugly) and the "PRECISION FORGED" off both the irons and wedges, I think they'd be on to something.

I know many previous lines they always have Cleveland in cursive on the sole.

+1, agreed. Really nice looking irons, I'd go Cleveland for those ;).

I'm thinking I see 14 clubs with no putter in that bag though. The 13 are pretty obvious, but I keep thinking I see another polished iron hosel just above sole of the bottom-center 588 wedge. Hopefully his caddy takes care of that...

I think the logo is actually a backwards P and fowards F combined - Precision Forged.  This is how they COULD have looked, although I would have updated the font on the 588-CB script.

Pretty sure he was kidding, because the sole is the only place they didn't stamp something useless on... Kinda.. don't know what those 2 dots below the loft are about. lol

That's significantly better.  I think you're right on the logo...as if we weren't clued in to the fact that they were PRECISION FORGED already (what with it spanning the entire back of the clubhead).  What the heck does precision forged mean anyway?  I would hope that would be understood.

Cleveland realy have you done any consumer testing before putting these products out?

maybe they just don't want to appeal to the golf enthusiast.....
Yeah.  They should appeal to the golf enthusiast like Mizuno and Bridgestone.  That way, they can also sell NO GOLF CLUBS, like Bridgestone and Mizuno.  You guys kill me.

His irons look a lot like the retail version.

True, but his custom paint fill is what seems to make them look "busy", IMO.

No, it's the 26 stampings on the back that make the clubs with any paintfill color look busy.  :)

No doubt.  If they lost the logo (I have no idea what it's supposed to be, but it's ugly) and the "PRECISION FORGED" off both the irons and wedges, I think they'd be on to something.

I think the logo is actually a backwards P and fowards F combined - Precision Forged.  This is how they COULD have looked, although I would have updated the font on the 588-CB script.

+1!!  Looks 200% better....
