* Mulit Material Technology: Tungsten Toe Weight, Titanium Face and Custom Tuning Port, 17-4 Stainless Steel Body.
* Lightweight Titanium Face: The lightweight titanium face allows 25 grams of weight to be re-distributed to the perimeter for increased forgiveness.
* High Density Tungsten Toe Weight: A 20 gram, high-density tungsten toe weight increases forgiveness for added accuracy and consistency.
* Larger Custom Tuning Port: The larger custom tuning port helps stabilize the face by maximizing the surface area it covers, improving feel.
* Sof Elastomer Insert: The softer insert combined with the larger custom tuning port gives these irons exceptional feel and sound.
* New TFC 909D Graphite Shaft: This new, premium graphite shaft was designed specifically for the rapture driver using high quality, lightweight materials which increase clubhead speed for maximum distance and increase tip and butt stability for better control and feel. The new Aldila VS Proto 65 shaft is also available.
I don't really get to play much so I wanted a set of irons that was point and shoot. Definitely didn't go wrong with these irons. They were really easy to hit and get up and the level of forgiveness is way up there. They also feel really great. Previously had a set of G2's which I had problems of hooking, but I ordered a set of Raptures that were Japan spec, which had a lot less offset, and my shots have never been straighter and higher. Just can't say enough about these clubs.

Just got these fitted and love the feel and clean hits I get off these clubs. The ball launches fast off the face and is very forgiving on miss hits. Wish they were cheaper but in reality over the life of these clubs it does not matter. I hit the G5's and the raptures for two hours at a fitting and at the end of the day the crisp hits of the rapture won me over.

I've hit about 10 games scoring between 82-89 (about average for me) and quite a bit of practice time now with these irons. Some observations....my wedges flew the greens (PW and the I wedges) for the first time in years and I have always been short of the pin as a habit. The higher scores were a result of missing the greens long. The short irons are playing 7-10 yards longer and the mid and longer irons about 3-5 yards longer. I'm hitting much more clean hits now that take off striaght and high and drop quickly but land softly. I really like clubs and the confidence I am starting to gain in them. The smaller sized grip from the fitting only felt odd the first time, and the stiffer flexed steel really connects. I don't feel that shaft "lag" at contact anymore like I did with my old stock clubs.
If you can afford these babies I can't see anyone but the most skilled player being disappointed with these irons, but then again you probably are not reading this review.
These are some of the most forgiving irons you will ever hit. Be ready to lower your scores. Don't try to get to fancy as they are hard to work as you just need to aim at the flag & fire away. I think they are a bit overpriced but I don't see anyone who buys them would ever have any reason to get rid of them in at least 10 years. So in the long run if you get what you pay for. I played & loved my G5's & only until I recently tired the Raptures out they made me a believer. They are a bit longer 3-5 yds maybe but oh do they feel sweet hitting them. So anybody looking for a top of the line set of irons need to give the new Ping Rapture irons a demo test. The real test will be finalized once you take them out on the golf course & start seeing your scores go lower.
My 3-PW set of Raptures arrived today and I promptly took them to the range to try them out. White dot (+3* upright lie angle), Ping/True Temper Z-Z65 stiff steel shafts, +1/4" shaft length, gold (+1/32") Ping 703 grips.
What can I say. These things are simply stupid easy to hit. Compared to my previous sets of irons (TaylorMade RAC OS, TaylorMade R7 XD), I found the Raptures to be much more consistent in shot dispersion and distance. The offset took a little getting used to (they appear to have even more offset than the TM game improvement clubs above), but after adjusting a bit I found I was able to consistently hit high shots with a nice draw. I am simply unable to hit slices with these irons. Even the long irons are quite easy to hit and may bump by 3h and 4h hybrids out of the bag. One caveat: due to the wide soles, you can see the rear part of the cavities at address when hitting the 3 and 4 irons. I'm not bothered by it but some may find it distracting.
I'm going to have to spend a little more time with these irons to come to a final conclusion but so far I like what I've seen. Getting fitted properly is a must.
Got to hit Rapture Irons on our practice range today. The guy who just bought them said they really helped his game. I can see why. I still play i3;s and my old Karsten 2's, and love my Pings, but if I buy any more Irons , the Ping Raptures will be in the bag. SWEET!!!! Best Iron set I have hit.
Just received my set in cs lite regular steel. I have been playing the G2 since they came out and from what I have been hearing they are longer than the other ping models. They seem a bit heavier than my G2 and the grips seem a little oversized. I did not see where I gained any extra yards and if anything I seemed to hit them a bit higher. Some of my buddies are hitting the graphite shafts and swear by them. Maybe I should of ordered them in graphite since I have some artheritis in my right hand. I wonder if ping would take them back and exchange for graphite since I only played 1 round and did not hit all the clubs. Let me know if anybody has had a problem and what Ping did.

I just bought a set of Rapture J's from Tour Spec Golf and I can't wait to get them. I ordered then in a d3 for the 5-9 irons and D3 for the Pitching and Gap Wedge. They are stupid easy to hit and I can't wait. I am a 6 hcp.
I played with Callaway Big Bertha Irons for the past 4 years. Couple of months ago I bought the new Fusion Wide Sole and I hated it. I replace them with the new Ping Rapture and they are much better than the Fusions (at least for me). Good clubs.
I was fitted for a set of Rapture Irons last week, just got the call that they are in. Very much looking forward to the weather breaking here in Chicago so I can get out and put them to good use.
Follow-Up:
Have spent a month now going to the indoor facility and for as much as hitting off a mat can tell me, I love these clubs! Just need to get rid of this snow and put them to the test out on the course.....
I was finally able to get out and play my course when the conditions were great. I could not be happier with the Raptures. Perhaps it is the fact I was fitted for irons for the first time and they are 1/2" long and 2' upright, but a huge difference from my last irons. Looks like my annual purchase of irons has come to an end.
Ping Rapture irons owners ..Anyone planning on trading in to get the Rapture V2 irons?
Anyone hit with the new Rapture V2 irons?
First post here...
I just fit this weekend for new irons. I have been playing Tommy Armour 845's for about 8 years and thought it was time for something new. The Rapture V2's were not even on my radar as I was looking at Cobra FP's and Ping i10's. I really do NOT like oversized, heavy offset, wide-soled, thick topline clubs at all as you can tell by my other two preferences. BUT after hitting the V2's I HAD to get them!
Accuracy - Obviously these are an 'Extreme Game-Improvement Club' but they were so effortless that it almost felt like cheating. As others have said - stupid easy to hit! Pick the right club, line up and put it where you want. Seriously.
Distance - Hard to tell until I get mine in as I was hitting from the fitting area and the yardage markers were not accurate from where we were. But from what it looked like, I was about 10yds longer on the 7-iron than with my 845's.
Trajectory - Spot on for me! I have a pretty low ball flight and the V2's definitely get the ball up with a nice, soft landing. Again, even on mis-hits, I was still getting the ball up and right where I wanted it.
Feel - This was a big deal for me. I wanted a club that had a good amount of feedback and was worried that this type of club would feel mushy. Honestly, I could not believe the amount of feel they had. It's hard to explain, but this club felt like a warm knife through butter AND had feel! Doesn't make sense, but true.
Workability - Again, another area of concern for me. You have to work a little harder to get the ball to do something other than go straight, but it's still possible. Obviously not like the i10's, but at my level (13hdcp) there's enough there for me.
Of course all of this is with the clubs from the Ping Cart so there wasn't a club that fit my exact needs. But even with the V2's that were too flat, too stiff, too short, etc... I could still hit them all. Cannot wait until mine get here next week! I'll be sure to follow-up with reviews after some serious range time. Here's the specs on what was ordred:
Almost forgot. As far as price, I ended up at $1150 for the 4-PW and the Tour-W wedges. A little lower than I've been seeing online, but I did buy locally in Germany and the exchange rate was exceptional this past weekend
Any further feedback on the rapture v2's? I have the v2 driver and it is sweet. I also currently have the tommy armour 845's and am ready to move to a new set.

Was at Golfsmith yesterday to get fit (lies only). I hit off the lie board using a Ping Rapture V2 7 iron (all standard). TBH, they felt the same as my 1st gen. raptures. OK, maybe they felt a little bit better but not enough to justify the price increase. The Golfsmith employee even agreed with me. There really is no drastic difference between the two models other than the ones mentioned above.
My 1st gen. raptures will be staying in the bag. Besides, I don't like the graphics on the V2's.
picked up my v2s yessterday and took them to the range.
WOW!! these things are awsome!
Having played mizuno mx17s and recently G5s, I couldn't believe how nice the v2s feel off the face.
Way better for me than the G5s, I hit them longer, straighter and feel is sweet.
I can't wait to put them in play next week, will update after my round!
The question was asked if anyone plans on trading their Raptures in for the new V2's. Well I hit them and they seemed to have a wider sole which didnt bother me. Ball flight was nice high & straight. Im not sure if I like the green shafts but Im sure I could get used to them. I might be trading for the V2's as I need to demo them some more. They had me curious as I tested them against the Titelist AP1 & Mizuno Mp 52. PING much easier to hit with more accuracy. Im thinking the V2's might make me a nice Christmas present, heck maybe a birthday as I have one coming up soon.
Damn you all!!! all this talk about the new V2's and trading up is driving me crazy!!!
I like my 1st gen raptures but when I tried out the V2's, they were so much smoother and I thought, how the heck was this possible? I mean, the 1st gen raptures were smooth, but the V2's just blows away the 1st gen raptures.
I would definitely consider trading in but I hate the graphics on the V2's.
I'm thinking of picking up the Rapture 3 and 4, and possibly, 5 irons in my club set (my iron set is currently Cally Fusions). Anyone have a comparison on forgiveness and feel between Raptures and Fusion Wide Soles? I'm just looking for comments on long irons only. Thank you.
