A couple of months ago I purchased a Titleist 910d2 9.5 with a standard Ahina 72 stiff shaft and I am really having trouble with it on two things

1) The club launches way too high, the ball just balloons up into the air and then drops like a stone
2) This club generates too much spin for my liking, roll is non-existent

As a result, I have lost noticeable (15 yards) distance compared to my old Mizuno MX-500 driver and to be honest while I wouldn't mind if I didn't gain any distance, I don't really want to lose any distance. As a result I was looking to either sell on or trade this driver in for a different club

Which drivers out there at the moment offer a lower ball flight and low spin?

Of the two Titleist 910's the D3 is the lower launch, lower spin.  It might be worthwhile to look at a different shaft instead of a whole new driver.

First- Welcome to the board.  :welcomeani:

So you're looking for a low launch and low spin head?

Among them are:

Adams 9015
Bridgestone j33r (420 and 460)
Cobra S9-1 Pro D

You should get quite a few responses with others.  Also, use the search function in the upper right and it point you in the right direction.

Good luck!

Keep the 910 D2 head, it's excellent as I have tested them.  Throw out that mediocre made for ahina and get yourself the real deal which does in fact launch lower and spin way less as well.  You may even find that your dispersion improves as well.  Another shaft you might want to look at is the 7M3.

Again, first thing to look at is a new shaft.  Look for a place to do the titleist fitting and you'll know if the D2 can be low spin enough with the right shaft.  Shafts like devotion 7, PX 7B3, GD AD DI 7 or real Ahina are worth trying.  If it doesn`t work , the D3 is a lower launching / spinning head.  You can always go back to the place where you bought it.  Some stores offer a satisfaction warranty.  They might swap the shaft for free...

Other recent drivers : Superfast TP 2.0 8.5 or 9.5
                               R11 9*
Ping I15 or wait for the new I20

I've heard Nike VR Tour (fixed hosel) is a low spinning head.

Cobra S3 8.5* paired with a GD DI is the lowest spinning combo I've hit.

It's impossible to guess without having launch monitor numbers...

Hard to top J33 for low launch and low spin.

The bad news is that most drivers today are designed to increase launch.  The Titleist is adjustable, so you may want to crank the loft down and see if it helps.  Also, consider a different shaft.  The "made for" shafts are usually a little softer in the tip.

Depending on your swing speed, you may also need to move up to X flex.  You should see a lower flight with a stiffer shaft.

Looking for low launch and low spin very lately, I found my way with a 910 D2 with an UST V2 76gr S. Perfect trajectory, ridiculous spin for my numbers. Maybe you could try this combo

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions, I may well go with fitting a new shaft. One question about that, do the shafts come with the surefit attachment so the head simply screws straight in or will I need to do that myself?

i would suggest you first find a lower launching lower spinning head, then tweak it w. the shaft if necessary.  the D2 is not that.  the d3 is as is the j33r460. i really dont think the 9015d is.   i play the 909d3 coming from the j33r.  playing to a 3.7 right now. either of those should work fine for you.  the emphasis should be on the head and not the shaft.

I agree that the J33 460 is high on the list and just a classic/timeless head.

Another head that is extremely low launch/spin is the Mizuno MP630.  Very underated, classic look and great muted sound and it feels awesome coming off the face.  I typically play an 8.5 head because I am high launch/spin but I tried a 9.5 MP630 with an Oban Devotion which is mid launch/low spin and it lauched lower than any other 8.5 head I have ever tried with the exception of the J33R 460.  I could have found a shaft to bring it up to where I like it but it was a little too fade biased for me.

I got a 9.5 d2 with a stiff rip and it launched way high, so I pulled the tip and tipped it a inch and then set it to c2 (lowest loft) and its a Absolute bomber now.

My ping rapture is the lowest spinning head I've tried out, at least for me. I love the sound and feel too.
