I played the G15 with a low launching shaft before, and Now play this.  This does launch a litter higher, but it is just as forgiving as the G15.  Great driver.  I just reshafted mine with a fubuki, and shortened it to 44.75 inches.  It is long, straight and forgiving.  I played a 9* on the G15, and a 9.5* in the G20.  My main reason for the change is that I wanted a little more height.  Nice driver.

I play a G15 with WB--was able to give the G20 a whirl.  Definitely higher launching but that was with the stock shaft compared to a white board.  Loved the look and feel of it.  Will probably switch next Spring.

I just sawpped my Mizuno MP 630 Fasttrack for a G20. Although only marginally longer the G20 is very forgiving, even an awful swing will still give me some distance and be straightish. Got it with stock stiff shaft which seems ok for now but would like to upgrade to a lighter stiff shaft, any suggestions?

Took one out yesterday, 9.5 with the tour Grey shaft which I'm comparing to my gamer TM superfast Tp 1.0 PX.

I had a pretty good driving day in fairly testing conditions, overall it launched higher which was expected but i did get some roll out on most shots.
Hit 2 bombs that finished around my gamer distance, but both were down draft. Hitting against the wind i felt i lost some distance but nothing major,  this has to be connected to the shaft characteristic's.

Overall i really enjoyed the club, found it very straight and very easy to hit, for me i need to find an 8.5 head then do the shaft test journey, so yes i think i will get one.

Hit the store demo with stock shaft - stiff. Can not find any real difference from G15 currently in my bag. Ping makes great clubs. But this one does not show me any significant upgrade.

Not my favorite color theme either.

A forgiving fairway finder with a decent stock shaft. I'm letting the glue dry on a Harrison Mugen Blue and will see tomorrowif it'll add a little pop while reducing spin and launch.

Didn't like it, hooks too easy and control is an issue compared to others.... Yes it is long but distance isn't an issue for me

I picked this up just as the season was about over (Chicago). This club had the least spin and lowest ball flight with the  stock shaft options out of like 5 different drivers that I tried out.

After hitting the G20 driver a couple times:

Well, it is on to the G20 driver now. The driver doesn't have the same great look as its I20 counterpart. It is a bit too long from front to back for my liking, and the face is too shallow for a driver. It probably is good for someone who is looking for more forgiveness and an easier driver to hit, but that is not what I like in a driver.
The performance is pretty good. It definitely has a forgiving feel and would play great for someone who needs extra forgiveness. The spin off the face is definitely a lot more than I would like as well. The offset really didn't look too bad. With an 8.5* head and an X-stiff flex TFC shaft, it was a pretty good combo. The feel is nice, and with the right shaft and fit would definitely be a good driver.
Overall, the club would be great for people who are looking for forgiveness and a major game-improvement driver (15+ HDCP).

To each there own.  I feel that the B- grade is a bit harsh.   You have to grade the clubs on what they are.  This club is not tailored to your game nor does it market or pretend to be anything other than what it is.  The Ping G series is a line of clubs dedicated for game improvement. As such, this club needs to be evaluated and rated for its intended audience.  Your comments are akin to saying that an SUV does not handle turns as well as your sports car well no kidding thats not what it was made for.

For the player looking for that extra level of confidence and forgiveness this club will definitely impress most golfers.  It is very long and extremely forgiving.  Bear in mind this is not a "players" driver although when needed you can move the ball in both directions but, again that is not what this driver is intended to do.  It wants to go long and straight and for me the G20 does just that.  Also the Tour shaft really impressed me so do not completely dismiss the stock offerings hit them for yourself.

There is no substitute for personal experience but, if you are looking for a game improvement i.e. forgiving driver this should definitely be on your short list to demo.

For what this club is, I feel it succeeds on all accounts. Now get out there and hit it for yourself.

Best driver I have had since the Adams 9015D. Very forgiving and good distance. Very easy to hit and misses still seem to go straight. Love it!

I agree I sold my Taylor Made Burner and made the switch to this driver.  My trackman numbers were very low with this driver and I found that a 12 degree loft was what I needed for my attack angle.  My bad shots aren't near as bad and my good shots are alot better.  I'll be keeping this driver for awhile I can assure you.

After almost a year in I still Love this driver.  Best I have owned to date.  Also wanted to mention that I had a shaft break and Ping was excellent with the reshaft.  Bottomline, Great Customer servive and a Great Driver a great combo.

I've had mine for 3 to 4 months first with a matrix ozik shaft and then with the stock shaft (both in stiff). For me the stock offering launches to high and because of this i get better distance from my back up driver an Adams 9064LS but forgiveness on the G20 is great and it is absolutely an fairway finder. I tend to disagree with some that  its work-ability is on the low end because just for me,I have no problem hitting high draws with it and although I do not try to hit fades much when I do the G20 seems more than able to work it that way. Regardless, if you are a higher launching player might want to consider shafting in something other than the stock stiff.

I'm currently using the G20 with a stock men's regular shaft (swing speed 95mph) and a 10.5 degre loft.  I've Always been able to hit the ball straight but  had problems getting the ball up - this club solved those issues.

In my book, the G20 is the best Ping driver to date.  Now, I haven't hit the new G25, or tinkered with the Anser drivers yet.  I've loved and owned the G5, G10, G15 and G20 series drivers-- Right now I'm playing a Ping WRX G20 with Aldila RIP Alpha shaft- cut down to 45".  This stick for me is a "swing for the fences" club.  I just feel like I can go after it with little penalty.  It's that forgiving.  Granted, it's difficult to hit fades or slices- but for most people, most of the time, that's a good thing.  If you're like me and really just want the best in forgiveness and distance, this is the one to go with.  I've compared it to Titleist 910 series, Taylormade, Adams, and Callaway Razr Fit. The only driver that was longer for me was surprisingly the Callaway Razr Fit-  this head, or the head/shaft combo seems to be a very low spin head actually- Don't know if I'm right, but I did hit it longer--- just not as accurate with the Cally as I was with the Ping G20.  I also really love the fact that the G20 comes in a 9.5- love that.  I buy clubs all the time and try them with different shafts and right now the G20 with the Aldila Alpha is staying in the bag and I can't see changing anytime soon!  By the way, I'm a 10 handicap and carry the driver 230 to 250 max.
Just my .02

Found the ballflight to be a little high, especially hampering when playing in high winds. Sets up slightly closed, thus causing a playing who's tendency is a draw, to play a hook. Ping makes the best stock shafts out of any leading brands. All in all, a pretty decent driver, especially for someone who slices the ball

It's a good driver for forgiveness, but it doesn't match the Nke VR Tour it replaced in any performance aspect, so it didn't end up replacing it.  The R1 I'm currently using is also giving me better performance, by that I mean distance and accuracy.  That doesn't mean the G20 is not a good club, it is, I just like others better.

Hi,

Is it possible to tell what kind of shaft this is?

Posted Image

I'm considering buying this G20 10,5' and the guy selling it says he's not sure what shaft it is, says he's away on travel, but claims it's regular in stiffness.
The white letters has me thinking TFC 707D, but having never seen the shaft, or driver for that matter, up close, I really wouldn't know.

Appreciate any replies :)

I've owned 4 g20's denting every one of the faces In the same spot, or close to it mid to high center to a little on the toe. I've brought it to my home club to have them call ping to get it exchanged for the 4th time they just laugh and don't want to call ping up again for the same problem same person in 2 years maybe less. What should I do? I explain to PING on the phone they just tell me to bring it to my course that I'm a member at and bought it at . Do I call ping while I'm at the course and hand the phone over after inteoducing my issues?

Not a particular looker. GI driver. Large and deep head. Not bulbous from address. Not the greatest sounding. Ping ting. Launches mid.
Ozik shaft is very nice. Alignment on crown. Grey metallic color.
Very nice. Long for its time.
If being in fairway matters, this is an excellent driver.

Got given an ex-demo G20 with a Project X shaft for free at the start of this year.  I'd just got back into golf after a 20+ year year "rest".  Good distance, but initially had a problem leaking drives right.  Got it going well now and averaging about 250 yards, not huge but OK for a 40 something with a dodgy back and tendinitus in my right elbow.  I find the sole design allows me to hit it from the fairway without any problem, need to cut it though as close the face a fraction and the ball will end up 6 feet under.  Can't find much reason to upgrade, except maybe for a lower loft as it flies super high.  Only things I can't stand are the size and sound of all modern drivers, it's like swinging a barn door and impact is deafening.
