O.k, I'm convinced. I will be purchasing a 54 & 60.

Really dislike the look but can't wait for the MyCustomWedge.com site. Going to remove all the stuff from the back.

not sure if you are kidding..........are you serious about providing such a service???  if so...when??
Apparently MyCustomWedge.com will be a site run by Cleveland/Srixon to order custom wedges. I'm not sure of the full details although there will be different grinds available and as far as I know, there will be an option to remove that dreadful PF logo from the back of the club.

This information comes via a member who works for Cleveland/Srixon and posted it on another thread about these wedges.

hopefully you can get ride of the "laser milled" etching on the face if you custom order it, but i doubt it.

Another useless graphic. I keep coming back, I've posted on my opinion before, but what is wrong with the tour version, looks great. Laser milled means nothing to most consumers. This whole thing needs a poll so we can give useful feedback to Cleveland. They truly are a great company with great momentum.

:shout: I don't wana go to McDonalds, I want Burger King mommy!!! :shout:  Quit ur whinnin guys, if you don't like the graphics, fine, move along. They brought back the 588 and that's what is important. I've used the 588 RTG for years and wouldn't (or can't) use anything else. And I've tried them all. There ain't no magic bullet of a wedge and graphics really don't do anything but get in your head. I am glad to see this shaft come along and I'm willing to put the thing down and see what it does, not what's on the back of it. Jeeeeeeezzzzzzz

Definitely looks like a vokey. Still looks very clean at address. Would definitely game but mizzi is making some great wedges now... Although yonex is looking great as well.

They do look like Vokeys and I think they look nice.  Funny, but if the Clevelands has this badging first and then Vokey issued wedges with their badging, I think some of you would be saying how gaudy the Vokeys look.  :friends:

Looks pretty nice.  Any idea on how the weight compares with the CG15?

so these 588s are pretty much the bread and butter when it comes to wedges but what makes them better or favored more than a vokey?

There was an interview conducted by another site, in which Cleveland talked about full customization of the wedge on mycustomwedge.com.  It sounds like they will be able to do some really cool pattern stuff with lazer milling (e.g. argyle) on the back of the wedge. As it's been stated, you will be able to fully customize the back of the wedge, so those that have complained about it being too busy can strip it down to however basic you'd like and choose the stampings. In addition, you will be able to choose what grind you want and two extra finishes will be included: black pearl and RTG.

My rep had a couple of the custom versions with him yesterday, and they are MUCH better looking than the stock version. The patterns on the back are some of the neatest things I've ever seen on a wedge, even though it makes them a little busy. I'll have 2 in my bag to try sometime in the near future.

The .588 forged irons were interesting too.

Saw Cleveland rep today and looked at the new offerings that's coming out in November and next spring. They really do have some cool stuff coming out. Sorry no pictures as I'm not going to abuse my privileges. I did see a picture of new 588 CB irons. Wow, really a nice looking set that will be out next spring. Nice looking drivers too in all black.

I'm already considering ordering a 303 SS putter in belly length that will be coming out in November.

They have a really cool bag coming out in all black scheme.

Of course, new 588 wedges are shitz and that website does offer some cool options, he did show me few options but I don't know if the details has been released yet here so I'll let them handle it. I do know I will be 1st in line to order some 588 wedges.

Ah, I see few comments about back being too busy. It's really hilarious as I don't think it's that busy when I'm looking at those wedges at address. Come on, performance is what it counts. not how the back looks if you can't see it at address unless you really are leaning wwwaaaay behind the club at address.

What is wrong with the look? It's not any more busy than a Vokey Spin Milled?

Yes these are conforming wedges.  They have the Laser Milled Tour Zip grooves on both models.
And ha ha to "they look like Vokeys".  Vokey is a 100% copy of the 588.

No F'ing kidding.  The shape looks great; slightly higher heal and a smig of roundness on the back edge, but a straightish leading edge.  Forged for soft feel.  If Cleveland keeps the price point down to Vokey range they will make a ton of conquest sales.

why don't companies do somemarket research before launching product?

how tough is it to come on Wrx or any forum and set up a poll with several different designs and then see which is more popular?
and don't tell that these 'cover evey square  millimetre in logos' school of design would be more popular with the ordinary joe golfer....

just smacks of laziness to me.

They DO do market research.  Going by what the dolts here want is the quickest way to bankruptcy.  Or did I miss some forged, no offset iron taking the retail sales world by storm, along with a 2* open 8* driver?  Come on man, think. According to everyone here, Vokey's are the schnizz.  But in the real world, Cleveland more than DOUBLES the sales of Vokeys.  It is a killing in the retail world as far as wedge sales go. You'd never know it by the posts here.  This is not indicative of real world golf retail.

I disagree.... if Cleveland kill it against Vokey in terms of sales.... why intoroduce a model that cosmetically rips Vokey off bigtime?

Great call golfNashTN, and everyone seems to forget this fact (or are too young to know), but if Titliest never signed Tiger Woods, Vokey would not be a house hold name.  Woods was a long time 588 player until he signed with Titliest and they brought Bob Vokey in from the wood department to copy a wedge for Tiger.

As for the wedge sales arguement. In 2010 the Cleveland CG15 was the best selling wedge on the market, Cleveland got to just under 40% market share (which was higher then Titliest golf ball share).  Vokey, made big strides in 2011 in market share by flat out ignoring the USGA groove rule and continued shipping non-conforming grooves well into 2011.  But it doesn't change the fact that Cleveland has sold more wedges in the last 20 years then anyone else, with almost 3.5 million of those being 588's.

PS...Does a Cameron Newport look like a Ping Anser or is it just me?

Again, I don't disagree with your figures but why did Cleveland/Srixon blatantly(my opinion) so copy the backside cosmetics of an inferior selling product?

While selling less than Cleveland, the Vokey's still sell well. Perhaps Cleveland believes this is because the Vokey's are similar to the original 588 and Cleveland would like to get this business back. Meanwhile, the CG15 and CG16 are still in the line and will continue to sell very well also. Now, those players that liked the 588 but did not like the current versions of Cleveland wedges, can again buy a Cleveland wedge. In the end, Cleveland sells more wedges. They also now have a forged wedge as well as continuing with the cast wedges, so they capture both markets there also.

Easy. Because they want to be part of the best selling wedge company in golf. Cleveland will sell 100 times more wedges than True Temper will sell DG Spinner shafts.
