Unless it's actually the man himself, you're asking for real trouble on this Forum.

Here's how it'll go...some guys will both agree and disagree with you and the thread might start off on a fairly friendly footing....shortly thereafter the Hogan Brotherhood will chip in and rip you, Christo and everyone else to shreds whilst CLTFAO...

99% of the threads in this Forum are like that.

Nice swing BTW, I'm not clever enough however to contrast it with Hogan's.

ZM.

I actually emailed with this guy a few months ago.  He is a nice guy, he wasn't giving out anything though.  OVerall I really like his action.  There is not a lot wrong with it.  He is not a cp left as Hogan, but other than that, it is pretty close.  You can pick up some of his feels from his videos.   I also like that in one of the vids he is hitting balls with a cup of suds next to his bag.  My kind of guy.

I can't believe the Hogan guys are letting you off the hook!  Hogan didn't do Stack and Tilt.  You're starting off too much over on the left foot - Hogan never did that, he set up as much on the right as you do on the left, then moved left as he turned his hips on the BS - you start out there. He also turns his hips much more than you.  If you're going to go so far as copy his hat, why wouldn't you copy his address position, including his right knee bent more than the left at address?  And this is all before we even get to the downswing.

First of all, this is not a video of the OP....
The video is by a guy named Christo Garcia, he's a great guy and has improved his game a lot in the last year or so. This video is not his latest efforts. He's a producer, so he has some really interesting videos on both youtube and vimeo. I have worked with him a few times and he's VERY talented, has a background in movement and martial arts....

His swing has come along well since he shot this video, and he will be even better in the future....

I would not wear the hat.  The best Hoganesque swing I have seen is Sevam, but this is a good swing.  Whoever is in the video looks thicker than Hogan, but there may be an age difference.

His tempo is a bit slow for Hogan 's liking .
He mentioned adding distance incorporating Martinez's move in his action .
I tried his nanchuck grip , flat out  works ...

Really does seem to pivot around single axis of left leg, hogan turns his leftr knee further in on the backswing and loads into the right leg more than the video, Otherwise very similar action and tempo.

Check the slow mo positions comparison at the end of the video .
Probably the best so far c/w others . Frame by frame looks really good  to my eye . I am no swing coach .
He could a bit more deep on the right side . Hogan has great extension at the end of the swing .

You can see the use of his right arm on takeaway.  great swing.  Wish he was a member and could shine some more light on the feels and thoughts that got him there

I gave in march an analysis of his swing on this forum...  <object height="349" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/v6i8dSCKaMs?version=3&hl=de_DE&rel=0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/v6i8dSCKaMs?version=3&hl=de_DE&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="349" width="425"></object> First I liked it, but now I have the feeling his release dictates the body. Right arm movement is top in transition, but his pivot... Oh his name is Christo Garcia... he has very powerful hands and arms...CristoGarciaDriverDSL.jpg ChristoGarciaImpact.jpg

Sevam is much closer to Moe than Hogan.  Sorry.

8 - out of curiosity, what swing is the closest to Hogan - in your opinion?

Maybe this is what Hogan would want had he had a normal left leg?

It's a nice swing, very Hogan looking when viewed full speed, but his release (as with Sevam) is completely different and that's where the money is.  Certainly much better than the guy who started that other Hogan impersonator thread a few days ago.

EJ,

Don't forget that Hogan HAD a normal left leg before 1949!  That's why I asked the guy in the other thread which Hogan he was trying to impersonate.  Unfortunately, good Hogan footage between '46-'49 is pretty hard to find, so most people focus on a crippled Hogan, or worse, and old crippled Hogan.  While his swing was great in every era, he was best pre-accident.  As he told Schlee "Why would you want to swing like a cripple?"

I can't believe the silence!  Except for the address position, hip and knee action, release, and shoulder and arm action, the guy looks exactly like Hogan.

I don't want to throw a mate of mine under the bus, but Christo is a 5 HCP....he hit his 8 iron about 135 when I first saw him. He's gone from a 15 HCP to where he is now in a year and he's filmed all the lessons he took etc...made a documentary, as I said he's a producer.

I'm pretty sure he'd be flattered that some people took the time to break his swing down and compare it to Hogan's.Posted Image
