I can't stand it either! And they shout it on drives on par 5's as well. The "You da man" shouts are just as bad. These people are "casual fans", not really golfers.

Not that I approve of the yelling, but would you rather have silence or some "golf clapping?" It's getting old yes, but I kind of like the party like atmosphere at the buick open, phoenix open, players 17th, etc. That is exciting, but I guess people are always going to have different opinions. I think Rory Sabatini lives and dies by people yelling you da man at him.

I just wish people would wait one more second before they yell "git in de hole !" Some people cut it mighty close to when the golfer hits the ball--too close for me--quite often.

Ditto. I think it is way too close to ball contact.....

When Tiger hit an iron shot today, i heard some casual fan yell "Stick the green!!!", and i thought it was the most stupid comment, he is the best player in the world... and yet this fan thinks that encouragement will get the job done...

Most of these "idiot, rowdy" fans are from the baseball and football base. I'm sure the pros are little irritated and annoyed by the outburts, but these yahoos are also paying to see them play. They have put a lot of money into the pockets of the players...how much again since Tiger came on tour? Oh yeah, that's right. The purses have tripled since the "new" golfer started watching the tour. I'm just saying....

I'd yell out:

"Get it fairly close to the green embankment on the right hand side of the fairway and let the contour of the grass let it roll to it's final destination somewhat from the pin...then..GET IN THE HOLE".

Maybe that's too long.

Maybe a tad but it gave me a laugh :)

But yea I don't think they should yell it because they sound like an a$$. But no everyone agrees with me. I can see if its going right at it on a par 3 but not when its there driving on a 550 yard par 5. Or even when there hitting 100 yard apporach shot. But i'd get upset if I was another player on another hole and all you heard all day long was get in the hole!

Agreed.

But I enjoy the "Get in the hole!" yells.

I must be the only one, but I think its fun. It brings a different atmosphere to the game. It chased away the stale, "Members Only at the Private Country Club" feel that kept so many away from the game before.

Did anyone watch the late-night coverage of the HSBC? The announcers were all over the people who yelling things.

My favorite was when some guy kept yelling stuff and the announcers were subtlely bagging on him. The camera then panned around and focused on one guy. One announcer said [imagine British accent] "I wonder if that's the gentleman with the loud voice? . . . No, he looks far too intelligent."
