Which stock shaft did you guys get in the a12 hybrid? What are the profiles? I have taken a quick look at each of them, but have not gotten to hit them. Just curious as to what you Guys thought.

I've got the stock white Altus in my 18* and really like it.  It feels solid and is pretty stout flex wise.  In terms of ball flight, I get a medium trajectory that gets up quickly and flattens out pretty nicely.  I don't know off hand what my swing speed is with the hybrid, but with a driver I have a swing speed of 100-104 mph and I play a stiff flex in the stock Adams Altus.

Altus is the higher launching than the RIP'd. It's also lighter. Not sure on specifics though.

Altus is heavier and stiffer than the Proto RIP...

Aldila is in the 80 grams Altus 90 grams

Need some help here from someone who has hit these. My store doesn't have any Altus in reg flex and I think that is what I need.

Driver ss of 93-96, think I should go with reg or stiff?

If you are going with the Altus stiff will be to strong/heavy for  you.

I have the A12 23* in Altus R flex. It is a heavy and stout shaft, much more so than the Axiv R flex I have in a similar A7 hybrid. The Axiv-A7 combo fits my swing (driver 95-100) better - it has a higher ball flight that still flattens out and just goes.

The white Altus shaft is sexy and will draw a lot of golfers towards it, unfortunately it is really best suited for the physically strong player who can really load it.  The stock aldila shaft is a great option and what I play...my swing speed for a driver is 105+.

I do demo days for Adams...there should be a demo day at your local Golf Galaxy from 5-9.  If you buy an a12 today you can trade in any 2,3,4, or 5 iron and received $20 off.

*Not a huge Golf Galaxy supporter but I do support Adams products.

Where did you find the Altus in R ?  I can't seem to get ahold of any around here to demo.

I special ordered it from Adams, via Golfsmith (normally I would place any special order through DD, but I had a gift card to spend at Golfsmith).

That is my issue, there are none in reg flex in the stores to try. I figured the Altus would be better for me since it has a higher flight and didn't think the weight would be an issue as my iron shafts are all ~110 grams.

I am not what you would call a physically strong player though so I may want to stay away from this. I was actually going to order a V3 with it but it has to be right.

Went to GolfSmith today, and hit a bunch of balls with both the Altus Stiff and RIP stiff in the 18 degree A12.  Average swing speed was 92 with RIP, and 88 with Altus.  Ball height was very similar...I consider them both mid-flight shafts.  I have a steep angle of attack, and generally hit a high ball...these, for me, are not high ball shafts at all.  I hit the Altus first and it has a nice feel that's very firm, but hard to describe...it's not "boardy" feeling, but yet it's firm.  I know that doesn't make much sense, but I've hit some really boardy shafts, and they have no feel at all.  This wasn't like that...it was just very firm, but there was feel.  When I switched over to the RIP I immediately felt the difference...shaft was MUCH looser...not even close.  I got better yardage from the RIP by about 6-8 yards (243 best shot with RIP and 235 best shot with Altus).  Dispersion was very similar as well..a hair tigher on the Altus because of the heavier and stiffer shaft.  If you like the Ad di, Ad Dj, blueboard, Prolaunch Red, S-300 iron shafts (those are ones that I have played personally), you will enjoy the RIP far better.  If you prefer a whiteboard, PX iron shafts, UST V2, Motore (again, one's that I've played)...you will prefer the Altus.  Altus looks far better, and I wanted to love it, but I like to feel the load in the shaft, and the RIP fit the bill.

There is soooo much information lacking from this post for you to make that conclusion.  If you're fitting people based solely on swingspeed, then I feel sorry for those people.

My swingspeed is in that range and I can't think of hitting a regular shaft ESPECIALLY in the hybrids, because of a little thing called transition/tempo.

Seriously... stop trying to "fit" people based on an arbitrary number called "swingspeed".

+1.  Never cared for the Altus, and I also agree that the new white one feels a bit different than the original (different as in "better"), but the RIP VS Proto has a better and more penetrating launch IMO and feels 1000x better than the Altus (the only Matrix shaft I haven't liked).

I have the A12 pro 18 & 23 degree both with the Aldila Rip'd shafts. If the Altus is lower launching than these then I'm glad I went for the Aldila. Great penetrating ball flight from the Rip'd shaft.

+1 for the rip shaft. Nice penetrating flight and good feel, not boardy at all.

I just pulled the Altus from mine yesterday, never hit it once since it was a S flex, and threw in a GDI YS+85 X flex.  Can't wait to try it out.

Just purchased the 18* yesterday.  I hit the Matrix shaft for a bit vs the Nike Covert Tour hybrid ( I know thats irrelevant, but the Adams was 10-12 yds longer.)  And the Adams was about 12 yds longer than the club gap i was looking for.  I was looking for a 230 club, and the Matrix was giving me about 242 with about a 5 yd fade, beautiful ball flight and loved the club.  I put it down and walked out of the store thinking I would order the Nike from my pro shop I work in.  I went and hit balls outdoors and thought about the gap I was looking for and realized the Adams hybrid should probably get another look, so I drove back to Golf Galaxy to hit it again.  The A12 was $99 on clearance at my store, and the last Matrix shafted one literally was being bought when I walked in.  So, disappointed I wandered back to the rack and found 1 Aldila shafted 18* left.  I had been demoing and hitting clubs all day and was tired so that might factor in, but the Aldila shafted one was giving me about 220 yds with a lower ball flight.  Not sure if that is going to be the case outdoors when Im rested, but at $99, and decent results. I picked it up anyways.  Both of these shafts were incredibly accurate for me. I was getting a 5 yd fade with VERY tight groups. im talking 8 or 9 dispersion after 25 hits with each.  Im excited to hit this outside and hoping this will be a good 230/235 club for me.
