I currently have a brand new UST V2 Tour Flight that I am thinking of putting in my Cobra ZL. I am also looking at a Diamana BB 63 and a GD Pershing 65. What shaft combo has worked the best or performed the best for you?

ive played the ZL all last year and into this year, GG just clearenced them and i picked up 2 more for backups. i have a few shafts to swap around. although the last 2 weeks ive been slicing the crap out of any driver i try do to a shoulder injury.

my expierence so far with my swing. smooth takeaway with an aggressive downswing usually hit driver 270-280 with the occasional bomb of 300 every third round or so

motore f1 75 X, long long long but high with no roll. shaft feels great and is my favorite especially if it isnt windy

speeder 757 S, also feels great, same distance as the f1 but slightly lower flight with some roll out

BB 73X, not sure what it is with this shaft but its so smooth it cuts through the air and i pull and snap hook the crap out of it, i need to just sell this thing. when i do hit it good it lauches inbetween the speeder and F1 but all get about the same distance, nothing really stands out as a killer of the 3. i just like the F1 higher launch since some of the courses i play i can cut some dog legs by going over trees instead of trying to fade or draw

Rip 70X, lost a good 20-30 yards distance but deadly straight, i thinks this is a little to stout, definatly firmer than the F1 and oban, but there are a couple courses i play that are only 5000-5800 yards with quite a few short par 4's that this shaft will help me in not flying greens

oban devo 7X, WOW the distance is back compared to the rip but it launches more in line with the speeder even though cobra has this near the lowest launcing on thier little shaft chart , maybe a little lower but with even more roll so it definatly feels like it spins less, i know its gonna be my favorite when my shoulder heals and especially if its windy. just got this shaft a week before hurting my shoulder but i have a feeling its gonna be a good 10 yards longer than the speeder and F1

im gonna pull the tips off the 2 back up stock shafts especially since they are R flex and put a pink nv 75S in one and pink nvs 75S in the other. probably gonna play around with both at 48" first and see what happens, the rest are all stock 46". the speeder/RIP spined and flo'd by me, the BB, F1 and Devo built by cobra. ive hit the longest drive ever with the speeder of 335 yards last year but have never came close to that again. and it was also late october with the ground starting to harden up a bit

hope this helps somewhat

Thanks for the input. I think I am going to put the UST V2 tour flight into the spare hosel sleeve that I have and then pull the stock voodoo and put in a Diamana BB 63. I really do not want to go over 72grams for my driver weight. Also what length did you play the shafts that you have tried with. I think I am going back to 45" from the standard 46" with the stock shaft.

I play a BB 63 in my ZL right now. I have a SAGA as a backup. BB is good but I sometimes hit it too high. I might try a whiteboard if I can find one for a good price. The Speeder is tempting too but it's a bit heavy for me I think.

I have a V2 Tour Flight in my 3 wood and hit that really well. Only downside, the shaft is just ugly as sin. I couldn't stand looking at it in my driver. I might try painting it that's how much I hate the purple/gold.

BTW: Play my driver at 45"
I just picked up a ZL and I'm not in love with the stock VooDoo shaft even though my numbers looked good on the monitor. I have really like the UST V2 in my old driver and I was thinking of picking one up and trying it in the ZL.
Where did you get your extra sleeve, I've seen them on ebay but nothing OEM.

WB 73 has been the best combo for me. Also have tried a WB 63, BB 63, Axivcore Green and a couple others. All at 45 or a shade under (10 gram weight).

I actually like the feel of the 63 better, but it's too easy for me to lose it left, so it was back to the 73.

ive taken most of mine off the stock voodoo's, or ordered the shaft from cobra with the tip on it. call discount dans, i feel i got a great price on the devo. possibly cheaper from cobra with the tip installed than just the shaft would cost from other retailers

Thanks - I have a note out to Adam now at DD's on the pricing of the club with an upcharge shaft - probably buy 90% of my gear from them - issue is I have a Talamonti PD70 I want to also give a spin with this club - so will have to figure some way to get an adaptor - maybe someone has some aftermarket adaptors like Billy Bob's that are worth it and built to similar specs -

golf galaxy and golfsmith just clearenced the ZL to 199.99 so you may be better off getting a shaft from DD's and buying the entire club at GG or GS and then you can pull the tip from the stock shaft for your talamonti

ending up getting the shaft from DD as you suggested - they are the best - as for the club - now with the price drop have picked up 2 (one 10.5 and one 11.5) on EBAY from a reputable seller - both new in the plastic with headcover and wrench - one went for $128 the other $132 - so now to spend the money I saved on the clubs on shafts....

Threw in the UST V2 Tour flight about two weeks ago in my ZL, and so far I really like the combo. Very tight dispersion and lower spin. I brought the playing length back down to 45" and my contact has been a lot more consistent as well. Great shaft for the money. I would still like to try either the BB 63 or 73, Fubuki 63, or a WB 63 though.

Kinda old but I just picked up a zl for 99 bucks like new and had a gd dj6s installed and it is the bomb for me. Anyone else still gaming the zl and have some other nice shaft options? Btw my clubfitter pulled the stock shaft which was .350 tip and used a brass shim and it looks factory. Are these tips available at .335 somewhere? Thanks loving the zl
