Besides muni's and military courses, which courses allow push/pull carts?
I know Pearl will let you walk/cart for twilight.
Thanks!

That course is in great shape. The greens are really nice but slow compaired to Navy Marine. It seems as if they are letting the rough grow out, well compaired to how they normally have it. The fairways were really soft from the rain last week so I was not getting any roll.

Yes and yes. I grew up playing at Mid Pac. I haven't played there in about three years though. Long course..when it's in good condition, the greens can be pretty quick. Of the privates on Oahu I rank it #2 after Oahu CC in my favorites. HCC is nice. Not the longest course but it can be tricky with all the dog legs. The green are usually in pretty good condition with ok speed.

Anyways, had an extended golf trip to the Big Island this past weekend.
Thursday - Makalei - Pretty nice course. They had aerated a couple of weeks ago, so the greens were a little bumpy and you have to watch out for small rocks in the rough and bunkers. We got a few nicks and dings in our wedges. But for $25, it was a very good deal. One of the guys in the group has and uncle that lives right by the course and got us the local resident rate. The course was mostly target golf and we only hit driver a handful of times. There were LOTS of peacocks all over the course and some of them weren't real shy either.
Friday - Mauna Lani North - Very nice resort course layout. Not much trouble off the tee. The greens were pretty slow, but otherwise putted well. They have a couple of tough holes, particularly on of the par 5's on the back nine where there is a sharp dog leg left about 200 yards from the tee or you can try to cut the corner but is OB if you don't make it. I didn't make it over a couple of times and took an 11. Ouch.
Saturday - Waikoloa Beach and Kings - I thought the Beach was very nice and the Kings was ok. To me, the Beach was in nicer condition than the Kings, but some of the other guys felt otherwise. The greens were pretty tough and tough to read break. They were MUCH faster than the Mauna Lani greens, which made for a tough transition. There were lava fields and features EVERYWHERE. I also hit into a bunker probably every other hole on the Beach course. With the replay deal, it wasn't that expensive, but I don't think I would really need to play either course again. If anything, probably the Beach course.
Sunday - Mauna Lani South - This was a very fun course. More challenging than the North and added more lava in play. This is one of the courses where I think you will play much better the second or third time around. There were a lot of holes where the landing area off the tee was deceptive or an optical illusion. Also some trouble that jutted into the fairway that you couldn't see off the tee. Not a particularly long course. I wasn't hitting my driver or 3 wood well at all this trip and actually ended up hitting hybrid off the tee from about the 7th hole on and didn't feel like any real disadvantage. I actually reached two of the downwind/downhill par 5's in two with hybrid off the tee. The ocean holes were super nice. There weren't many groups out and since I was in the first group (two groups total) and the second group fell way behind, we were able to play both of the par 3's on the back nine from the back tees. Those were pretty challenging with the wind.
So 5 rounds in 4 days and I think I have had enough golf for a while. It was very fun though. If anyone is planning a trip out to Kona for golf, I highly recommend staying at one of the vacation rentals at Mauna Lani. They were very nice homes there and in a very convenient location!

Anyways I started on #10 and started pounding low to mid cuts that rolled or just flat out high shots to ride what little wind there was at the start of the round. I had a great score going until the guys I was playing with told me my score out loud. Even though I knew my score, when they said it, I just lost all feel and nerves kicked in, I was going for the the 79. I proceed to triple bogey a very easy hole #8. I ended up shoting 83. I had one double and one triple. I missed so many birdie and par saving putts by inches. I had one 3putt which was on #15. I had par on all but one par 3, the 17th(DOUBLE Fing BOGEY). Shot par on all but one par 5, #3.
I hit 11 of 14 fairways. Or the two missed, they were blocked and the 3rd (please let me forget #8 screw up). I had 32 putts with 8 GIR. When I missed the greens, I missed in the right spots that allowed me to get up in down or atleast walk away with only a bogey. Durning the round it seemed as if I hit more greens, but as I think about it fringe is not the green.
They had hard pin locations. Example #5. maybe 2 paces on the green which was gaurded by bunks and was right on a ridge. Or #15 back part of the green right on a ridge. Example of how bad this pin places ment was, guy putts the ball, got right to the top of the ridge and rolled back down past him. first putt was like 25 feet the secound was 30 feet or so.
Who know maybe I really don't need a driver. LOL, when I get home after the round I have a Fast12ls waiting for me at the door. I can't wait for the XTD to show up (longer then the F11Ti) that they keep pushing back on me.
Even thought the score is high compaired to some on here it is really good for me on the course. I hit the ball solid and stuck with the lesson I got last week. Hopefully if I stay with it down the road and get a couple more my handicap will drop back down in the single digits again.
