I was looking for a set of older irons to purchase as a collectors item to use in my home theater room I am preparing to build in my new place.  I picked up a set of Arnold Palmer Original Limited Edition Irons 804/1000.  I only paid $99 on the bay for them, so I figured I can't go wrong at that price.  They're pretty sharp looking irons.

This is the sellers description:

"This is a set of the Limited Edition Original Palmer irons, still in the shrink wrap and box from the subcontracted Chinese manufacturer whom Palmer used to make them. These clubs were originally issued as part of a Limited Edition set which included a signed leather bound copy of Arnold's autobiography, "A Golfer's Life," with James Dobson. The clubs were shafted with stiff (I think) steel shafts and leather grips, and came in a wooden display case. They sold, I am told, for $1400..

When the Palmer company went out of business, I bought the remaining, unshafted heads from that run of 1000. This is set 804/1000. I use a set of these myself, which I had shafted with Dynamic Gold shafts and Tour Wrap grips, and am using them now in place of my former favorites, Mizuno MP-14 clubs. Although these clubs are not forged, they are as soft as any forged club I have played (among several), and are easily bent to my preferred spec. (I am told the proprietary alloy for these clubs was called feryllium. I have not been able to confirm that, though I can confirm that these clubs feel solid, and soft.)
These clubs were made to match Arnold's specs from the early '60's. They therefore are a club weak when compared to modern clubs- no need for a gap wedge! I did bend my personal set to match Mizuno's MP-14 spec, which is what I am used to. If you don't mind hitting a 9-iron where you used to hit a wedge, there's no need to change these.

I have now sold several sets of these on eBay and have had universally great feedback about the quality and feel of these irons, which you can custom fit for your swing.
A collector's item which will never be remade!

SHAFTS REQUIRED: .370 PARALLEL TIP!

NEWS! When I opened the latest box of these irons I found the original inspection report from the manufacturer. Pictures are included. They give detailed specs for these irons, including the lofts and lies:
2 iron: 20 degrees, lie 57.5 degrees
3 iron: 23 degrees, lie 58 degrees
4 iron: 26 degrees, lie 59 degrees
5 iron: 29 degrees, lie 60 degrees
6 iron: 33 degrees, lie 60.5 degrees
7 iron: 37 degrees, lie 61 degrees
8 iron: 41 degrees, lie 61.5 degrees
9 iron: 45 degrees, lie 62 degrees
PW: 50 degrees, lie 63 degrees.

Each iron has the actual gram weight on the shrink wrap.
"

The plan is to get them shafted, put on some leather wraps and buy an old leather golf bag to display them in.  I know I will be really tempted to hit them but I think I can hold off the urge.
