Played here yesterday because my friend had a free round voucher from like three years ago. Simply put, the course is a pure s**thole and I would say that even playing it for free I felt ripped off. There were gopher holes in three of the greens! WTF! Avoid this place at all costs, honestly would rather play Simi Hills.

i've experienced the same thing at lost canyons before...last summer we played the shadow course and i swear for a stretch of 5 or 6 holes i felt like i was in the louisiana swamplands and then all of a sudden to the middle of the african serengeti...lol no joke...sad to hear they haven't improved...simply put LOST canyons= LOST customers

I played the Shadow Course a few months back and the conditions were terrible. I don't think this course will be in business much longer.

Man that is too bad to hear I have been meaning to head out to socal and play some golf and I have always heard good things about that course. I guess I will have to find another hidden gem.

Good layouts on the course, however they have had money problems for many years.  It's pretty far out of the way for LA people, definitely not worth the trip until they get new management.  Way too expensive too.

Don't fret, Rustic Canyon and Moorpark Country Club are just down the road a few miles. Those are 2 must play So-Cal courses.

Played rustic a couple months ago.  Still money, the greens are really tough, it's in good condition and a great deal.  If only I could have done something about all the three putts the last time, shot 86 with 7 3-putts.  Greens are big and undulating.

Usually around $50-60 and a $20 replay with cart.  Teed off at 730am early this year, made the turn at 11am and finished 36 by 4pm.  Was great and only cost me about $80.

My friend Sam who has won a couple of pro tournaments this year plays out of Lost Canyons as his home course.  It's definitely a challenge but that's how you improve your game.  I saw a deal on dogolf.com to play it with a cart and range balls for $49: http://www.dogolf.com/california

I know Sam, I fit him for his KZG's any idea how he likes his new steel fiber shafts Matt put in for him?  I played Lost Canyons a Month ago and it was in good shape, maybe they reduced watering to save money, I know they are hurting for money, but the course is difficult and can eat your lunch.   They don't call it "Lost Balls" for nothing.

Rustic is a nice links course if I am not mistaken.  I went out there last year and the wind started howling at what seemed like 40 mph.  The ball literally would not even stay still on the fairway.

If you get out this way, would be fun to get a game going along w/ Tai.  I'll need 3 a side from both of you tho.

Absolutley, I am trying to match up our schedules and the delivery date of my new Byron and head out there. October is looking the best right now
My game is going the wrong way though so not sure about the 3 aside

This is a good course to go out and just practice... it gets a llittle hot though being in the valley in the middle of summer so beware!

Played Shadow a couple months ago and it was in terrible shape. They said they water only about 40% of it and it looks like they are hurting big time. I can remember when they used to charge $150 green fees a few years back. It's too bad though, b/c I've always enjoyed playing Sky.

Same here...awful conditions on Shadow.  Rustic Canyon however is always my go to course, love that place.

Shadow shut down for 2 weeks for repairs and they did the green, much better shape now, greens will be perfect by weekend, Sky is in awesome condition course is in great shape.

I played at this dump in January and was sorely unimpressed.  The views are awesome for me since I'm new to CA, but the entire course was brown and just in terrible shape.

thats a shame ive been wanting to go down and play some socal courses...this being one of them but not anymore, not til i start hearing some better reviews about the place!

I would THINK with all the rain we've been getting lately, this place should be in acceptable condition by now.  Although I'm not sure I'd play it anyway (the shadow course, anyway).. the layout is ridiculous.

Nah, give it a shot. I hope you are playing Sky b/c it's always kept in better shape than Shadow.
This is also the course they filmed the Dufner Comcast commercial. You can clearly see he is hitting out of the bunker on hole #2 par 3 and at the end of the commercial hole #10.

Played Sky last Monday for a tournament, it's in fantastic shape which was utterly surprising considering the shape they keep Shadow in.  After telling people to stay away, now i'll just tell them to play Sky.

They've let Shadow go because they're in the process of getting permission to develop that part of the property into homes. Sky will remain and will probably be semi-private if they ever go through with the plans post-recession. Sky has always been better, and not deserving of some of the negative comments I've read here, IMO. It's a tough but beautiful course. Shame that they've also stopped watering and taking care of the practice area, which used to be the best grass range I've found around LA. Also have to mention that I stopped going out there after stepping on a snake once right around the clubhouse... There are a lot of them in the hills...  and they're the real thing... i.e., rattlers...

played 8 courses from la to sd this past week...lost canyon was easily the worst and least enjoyable
as stated above by others...stay away!!! rustic canyon only 10 minutes away is 100x better
