I watched a biography on that movie and they said over half of it was adlibs that were not on the original script. The part where bill murrey was watching the older ladies on the green...bark like a dog for me...was all him. They said he went like 15 minutes just crackin everybody up. They also said if they actually used all the great material those guys came up with the movie would have been like 5 hours long.

Thay also said when it was all done they relized the movie had no point. It didnt have a plot. So on the back side they decided to use the gopher. So they had to have the gopher made, reshot some of the scenes so the movie would have a theme. All through the shot it was just a big party and way over budget.

The first time you see rodney dangerfield at the party. The director says...ACTION...no rodney. He reeats it...still no rodney. So he goes to see what the problem is. He says...whats wrong...nothin says rodney. Director says...when I say action...you come out. OH...ok...lol...This was his first movie and didnt have a clue how it worked. Then comes out and does a fantasic job. That guy was great!!!!

Maybe I'm slow, but after watching Animal House this past weekend, it finally clicked to me that the gum chewing, teenage girl from the supermarket is the same actress as the one who played Noonan's girlfriend.  Always wondered why she looked familiar, but I could never get past the accent.

As I said previously, Dead Solid Perfect was a better "golf" movie, as was the Greatest Game Ever Played, but Caddy Shack is one of the greatest comedies ever.

Here's a question for you: What was the name of Judge Smail's boat? No looking it up or getting out the DVD, must be from memory.

GOT IT! I presume you were honest and didn't look it up.

Although, you might have gotten it "slightly" wrong. I believe the name was "Flying Wasp", not "THE Flying Wasp". The judges on Jeopardy would have given it to you. So will I.

I also enjoyed Tin Cup and Happy Gilmore a lot.  However Caddy Shack is my favorite.

There are just so many classic lines from Caddy Shack that people use in day to day conversation that will garner a laugh.

"Hey when you buy a hat like that (or insert other object name) do they give you a free bowl of soup?"  Or I ask one of my buddies what he's doing this weekend, and I say great, how'd you like to mow my lawn.  "Be the ball."  "I bet you you slice it into the woods..."  "1000 bucks you miss that putt"  "...wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?" "Hey baby, you must've been something before electricity."  When Dr. Beeper says "We're about to tee off now so call the hospital and move my appointment with Mrs. Bellows back 90 minutes...Just snake a tube down her nose and I'll be there...in four or five hours."  -- My buddy actually used a line similar to that when his daughter called and said she hurt herself.

I've used this one at work and got some laughs "We can do that; we don't even have to have a reason."

and the list goes on and on.

Nevermind They went double or nothing on whether or not danny would make the putt.

The Judge had to hole that long one for a par ? Entirely believable - he was a pretty crappy golfer lol.
So Danny holes for birdie and they win the game 1 up. The comment from Ty still wouldn't make sense though.

This is why this is a great comedy about golf, rather than a great golf movie. I'd put Happy Gilmore in that category as well.

Best golf movies for me are :

Of these, my #1 would be The Legend of Bagger Vance.

Not seen Dead Solid Perfect so will have to try and find a copy of that.
