Yes, Nicolas isn't much of an equipment changer anyway. The Razor Hawk driver only replaced his Ping Rapture / Aldila Protopype last year. He did have a RBZ 3 wood in the bag for a while earlier in the season, which he mentioned was 15-20 yards longer than the Titleist 910, but he switched back presumably for more control.

Now he's becoming a household name, it will be interesting to see if one of the equipment manufacturers try's to sign him up for a full contract.

Callaway should jump at this chance, it could add to their longbomber stable even further (JB Holmes, Quiros)

I agree. With his prodigious length and obvious ballstriking ability, Nicolas would be a good addition to any manufacturer's stable. The problem with switching to 100% Callaway is Nicolas is a longstanding player of Titleist balls and I don't think he would want to switch.

With our flightscope, we checked all our distances from the 60° wedge till the 6 Iron. Quite interesting... A long session but don't get us wrong, we are not over-analyzing all the data. Feel is the most important thing, and my staff didn't tell me about the details, but only what was useful. With my 60°, I have a 57m distance swing and a 70m distance swing. With my 8 iron, I have a 155m swing and a 165m swing. I have actually two clear distance swings with each club (it depends on the intensity) and in between it's feeling that's working to get me at the right distance. It's much more complex than only distance, it's also a matter of type of grass, lie, wind, type of target, trajectory. GOLF IS A MATTER OF SHOTMAKING. With all those years of play, learning and understanding, my eyes are choosing very quickly the shots, and are telling my hands and body what to do.

Funny thing that the longest hitters in the European tour are playing the same driver: Razr Hawk 9.5º, Quiros a longtime Callaway staffer and Coults.

I love watching Nicolas play and I'm really glad he made the Ryder cup team. He's improved exponentially, in all areas, over the past few years.

Anyone see what he was using in the Ryder Cup?

I saw the Rombax in the 3 wood and looked like the Speeder still in the RHT.

Nicolas is currently checking out new Equipment at Callaway.
"I'm currently testing and fine tuning clubs at the Ely Callaway Performance Center in Carlsbad (Ca)."

Wondering if they have anything that can kick his X proto's and taylormade Vokeys out of the bag. (taylormade not as in the brand name but actually made by vokey for him)

I agree, but if a manufacturer comes along and offers you, say, $1M per year for 5 years, plus bonuses, it must be difficult to turn down whoever you are.

Nicolas' current bag deal is with Anahita Mauritius and, I assume, is probably tied to property rather than cash. Callaway seem to have some kind of club deal with him but I doubt it amounts to much since he started using Callaway's after the groove change, when he was struggling on the Challenge tour. His stock has definitely risen since then.

The best option would be to sign a full deal with Callaway and then he could play more or less what he does now, however, the ball change which Callaway would demand is a problem.

Had a 3 hours practice session with a lot of 3 wood tests, and a new shaft for drivers... Japan still makes the best shafts in the world...
I launched a few drives where the radar showed a carry of 340 meters!!! The local press was amazed and made all a buzz.

Straight from Colsaert's website.

Unless it is a typo by the Belgian Bomber.

Hey, for golf equipment geeks, I have tested a new Callaway driver and played today during the ROLEX Pro-Am with a new shaft: the UST Mamiya Atlas 3 7tx with a Callaway RAZR Hawk head 8,5 loft.

As a Callaway Tour staff player now, we will bring a lot of attention on building a new driver. With Mich we found already a great combination with a 8,5° head and a UST Mamyia Atta3 shaft, but it is not yet in the bag. We will work hard at the Ely Callaway Performance Center to build the 2013 weapon that will deliver longer distance, workability and accuracy. We have already reached a longer distance (impressive) and workability blend but I'm not yet 100% sure about the accuracy factor...
