We are just getting the club team off the ground here at UF. Dues are $150 per semester, including range balls and unlimited rounds of golf (walking only). We plan to join the NCCGA within the next semester or two.

I have no clue how it works to be honest, kind of interested to hear what someone from a longer standing program has to say. I know that since this is our first year (really first quarter) of being legit we get no university funding. so these trips can get kind of costly. We finished 2nd at regionals behind Michigan for Nationals. We get to play Firestone North and West....no south sadly.

North is nicer. At least I think so.

North is nicer to the eye on looks alone with all the water. South is more challenging and a better experience for golfing.

I agree i've played all 3 their is a reason why the WGC id played on the south course :good:

Thanks for your response bafana and others.

I saw that Br1an has a similar idea as mine. I think we will try and build a good core group of golfers over the next year while participating in school events to get more funding. and then join NCCGA next fall. I work at a course and will be trying to get a deal for our team to hit balls once a week and walk 9 holes once a week. We will start a handicap group on oobgolf and track everyone's progress through the season. The low 8 handicaps will be invited to a scrimmage I will try and set up in November, so if any North Carolina Schools (or the Clemson guy) are interested, let me know! I'm aiming for dues to be between $100 and $150 per player for 10-12 weeks of golf. We will be trying to look at some types of fundraising outside the school for more help. How does this idea sound?

I just played with a guy the other day that won the National Championship back in April.  Not a bad player, hits it a long ways.  He said the club team is a lot of fun.

I started the club team at Johns Hopkins last year, the first year wasn't too successful... we have a good core group of guys but working with the public courses in the area is a nightmare, how have you guys negotiated with nearby courses about discounted rates etc? We're going to join the NCCGA within 2 years or so, hopefully play in some tournaments as well.

What course does the Johns Hopkins team play at? I'd contact them and see what they say
