Well what can I say. Had some coffee and was all jacked up after the Masters. Here are some of my favorites I have here and took some pics.
The Nike combos are not here and the Titleist MB, Scratch blade, and Miura cb were out for demo so I could get them tonight.
First up:
Cobra S3 Forged- These are so sweet. Great shape with minimal offset, moderate topline with nice rounded edges. Sole grinds are so good. I compare the sole grinds to the typical "Don White" style grind. Center of the leading edge is ground more than the edges leaving a crescent moon type shape to the front grind. Soles are thicker also making this one of the most forgiving blade sole I can remember. Close to the MP-58 from memory and the S-56 without the leading edge aspects the S3 has all its own. BUTTER soft. Solid all day.
Satin is a quality satin and makes these heads look like a otur only product. I have a set of combos.. 3,4 in the cb and 5-pw in the MB. They 2 are perfect matches. They blend real good. Cobra killed it with these. Pitbull808 who is a forged aficionado claims these are as soft as any JDM he has played. Well in the same bucket for sure.
Next up is the TMag MB- These are very similar in shape and size to the S3. With any of these heads there is the company signature in the profile that makes the head their own. TMag has always had the TMag look. Something ever so slight to the eye near the neck. Where the topline starts to blend into the hosel all the way up till it fades into the hosel. Very TMag and Very addicting. They do not jog over quick in this area. The lines are very smooth and traditional like no other. I am a big fan and fits my eye so well.
The soles might be a touch thinner than the s3 but I dont think the dirt would notice. The grinds are much different and the leading edge is more "typical" to a blade. Less bounce than the S3 and less blunted leading edge. But dont let me scare you. These soles match up fairly close to the width bounce and grinds to the older forged cb lines of the 2003-2005. Yum Yum. Dont let me talk about how they feel, or I might have to get up and play night golf. Another butter head. Real good.
Now here they are together to see the Grinds...
Callaway RAXR X Forged cb- Dont have a full set yet and only spent limited time with this head so far. I am so in love with the MB from Cally. Feels awesome though and the head follows the shape of the Callaway high bounce profiles. I personally like the approach. Thinner playable soles must compensate the thinness with more bounce. There is a nice killed leading edge grind one these to. The head looks like the X-prototype muscleback's bigger brother and I can see these will blend together to make a sweet combo set. I think a 3,4,5 in cb and 6-pw in the MB with a set of Jaws wedges. Pimp my bag out with that.
Next on the list...
Mizuno MP-63 - What I think of is PURE. These are just that. They inspire me. Looks of a Porsche 911 Turbo and feel of a Audi R8. Soft muted thud of a forging as you are used to with the Mizunos. Dont have enough toad time to comment to much. You can see from the sole grinds they are suited for a sweeper more than a digger. Has a Titleist MB type sole but wider. Thinner with little camber from front to rear. Modern size heel to toe. Not so small it make you nervous but not to big to turn you off. Players cb here.
Here they are together. Shot in order. Whichever head is to the left it is consistent all the way through the shots.
