Any thoughts on how the swing looks or what I should work on?

I've been working to try to get my lower body and core engaged more in the first part of the down swing.  With out realizing it,  I started coming over the top a little throughout the winter.  I think I was getting too arms conscious and I started pulling it more and more.

I'm trying to play a little draw but it's not the most natural thing for me since I've been pretty much a fader the last few years...

Anyone??

What do you find is your miss when you try to draw it?

Looks like a couple start a bit right and it doesn't curve to the left ya?

Show us some from the front view!

Also show us what your fade looks like!

I 'd prefer to miss it straight if i'm trying to curve it rather than miss it with an over curve.  I aim at the middle of the green and curve it towards the edges.  Hopefully the miss is straight so that I'm left with a putt rather than a short sided chip.
Over all, I'm pretty happy with the ball flight.
I'm actually going to play this weekend for the first time this year in Alberta.  We'll see how it goes!
I'll add a couple more vids for you Trembola...   I'll be at the range tomorrow at some point so I'll try to hit a few fades.  I spend most of my time hitting wedges when I'm at the dome so I'll put a few of those in there too.

When are we going to see some of your swings?

Hey Trembola,  took this vid today of me trying to hit a few fades with a 4 iron.  .  Most of them are pretty good and like I was saying,  the misses are usually straight as opposed to over curving. It felt a little weird at first because I've been drawing the ball the last couple of weeks.  I'll try to get another face on series soon.

Like I said in the PM,  it's a pretty tough racket out there on the mini tours.

Ha!  Miss straight.  That's funny  :good:

Wish I could "miss 'em straight"!

I saw your videos when you posted them originally.  Looks a damn decent swing to my eye.  Great rhythm, plenty of power.  Not sure that many people feel qualified enough to comment.

Playing off +2 and you only play half the year?  That's a pretty good effort.

Great swing.

Yeah nice swing, could stay in your posture better, also pretty square on at impact. These are from the same swing just cropped differently. Will say its hard to tell much from the oblique angle. DTL would be better.

I tried to get it down the line but there was a pole in the way at my stall!  LOL!  I tend to look more at the ball flight than my swing so I guess I subconsciously set the camera up to catch the flight.  I'll post a different one with better angle tomorrow.

Thanks for the comments...

Thanks anth!   You're right that it's hard to keep it up with such a short season.  When I was younger,  I lived in southern Cal and Phoenix for the winter months.  I was closer to a plus 5 then but I've got a son and a business now so I had to grow up a little.   I still try to hit balls at least a few times a week.
What I meant by missing it straight is that I've always felt that playing a fade takes the right side of the course out of play and the opposite for a draw.  A bad miss to me is a curve across  your intended finishing point.

Awesome awesome!  I dig the towering fades.

What do you feel when you are hitting them?  I can see that after you hit you still kinda tweak the face open...sort of hold it off open.  The sign of a true feel player y0!

We're driving down to Paradise Canyon in Lethbridge.  I guess the course is in great shape and it's booked solid.  Supposed to be about 12 degrees C so that's good enough for me!  Where do you usually play in Calgary??

Honestly trembola,  I don't really know.  I mean I know intellectually what I'm supposed to do to curve the ball but after all these years,  if I want to hit a fade,  I just "feel" a fade.  I know that might sound hoaky,  but it's what I do.  When you go to shake someone's hand,  do you think about where to put your fingers,  or where to position your feet,  or how close you should be standing to the guy?  It's pretty much like that for me.  I just feel the shot and swing.  I'll be the first to admit that the old feel isn't always on but over all,  this "method" (if you want to call it that) is what works for me.  I suppose 30 years of hitting balls for hours nearly every day has my subconscious trained pretty well....

Played yesterday for the first time this year.  Pretty disappointing 77.  I guess hitting balls into a wall all winter doesn't help the course management.  I found all I wanted to do out there wash smash my shiny new driver as hard as I could!  LOL!  I'm sure I'll get back into it but can golf ever be humbling at times.

Another thread back from the dead.

Probably a little stale as far as Isaac is concerned, which is fine because what the hell am I going to tell a +hc former pro? "No, no, no!"? Don't think so.

I will say "Jeans at the Course I mean range I mean Dome? Some will be OUTRAGED!

If you ever want a challenge in golf Im happy to switch swings. good luck with that!
