I currently rock a gifted stock set of wilson woods from who knows how long ago. I'm looking to get a new driver to go with the new irons and wedges bought over the winter.

I'm 25, 6'2" and have been fitted for stiff flex Adams a7 idea irons. I would assume my swing speed varies but is over 100 not exceeding 115. What would you all do?

The Wilson Smooth is a nice driver. No flash, bells or whistles, but solid. I've seen it new for under $70.

Yonex Nanospeed i drivers can be had now for under $100, too. They were $400 when they came out in 2008. Lots of tehnology there.

the link that you put up acey says it's a womens club! :)

Also, do you think it would be a bad idea to jump to an Adams 9032 or something in that realm? I see they are pretty cheap and I hear some good stuff about them. Also the fast 10's can be pretty affordable too. When I say cheap, i mean 100 bucks or below.

There's a lot of options around $100.00(or less) if you take your time.  Look into an original version Ping Rapture, Adams 9015d, or a Geek DCT just to name a few.  Lots of pretty darn good deals come up on our BST too.

Whoops.....Posted Image

Didn't mean to imply anything....

BUT....The 2007 Burner with a Prolaunch Red (I had the same setup but a 10.5 degree, before SOME website suggested a 9015DPosted Image ) It was a monster, for me anyway, and can be had "cheaply" these days.

I have been looking at the ole 9015d, just didn't know if it was too beastly for me. I still am working on my swing and probably need some forgiveness. The only "kings" (9015ds) I've seen that appear not really worn out go for around 80 bucks. What do you think is a reasonable price? (obviously depending on the condition, but lets say a 7.5/10)

$90

it's amazing, best driver, longest driver, it's forgiving because it launches the ball so well

would you all say a 9032 would be more forgiving than a 9015d? and would i give up much distance? What year did the 9015 get released?

I haven't hit the 9032 but 9015d is a legend for a reason. I have hit a lot of other drivers but it still is the best. It looks great, smaller head and comes with a pretty good shaft. I have a fitting today where I am looking at a new driver but it's not because I want to kick it out of the bag, just trying to get a proper shaft for it or to 'see' if anything is better out there. I put an Avixcore in it and like it a lot.

Do you think for a guy who is still trying to tune his swing, I should go for a little larger head and probably more forgiving? I also can fight a slice, but i'm starting to get that ironed out of my swing. Do you think the open face of the club will be detrimental? Or should I look at it as an opportunity to throw my hands even harder? I have noticed i hit some really low flight hard hooks as i've worked my slice out.

I specialize in cheap drivers :) Heres a few options:

Cleveland Hibore XL or XLS tour
TM Burner
Nike Dymo
Adams Redline RPM

The list goes on and on...

Go with an S or maybe even an X flex. Good luck on your search!

The Nike Dymos should be given away on the bay at this point. I bought one brand new in Jan. at DSG for $80 ($60 with a coupon) so those should be super cheap. PING Rapture (not V2) is a great driver, usually cheap ($80ish) and then there's always the G10, it's the only thing that's been able to say in my bag for a reason.

Lots of Taylormade driver offerings available cheap.. The TM Burner 2007 driver is pretty good.. I know some good players that still pound the TM Burner  TP circa 2007.

I would also suggest the PING Rapture, G5 both excellent

L5v is a great driver also and you  can change shafts if needed. Also, Nike str8 fit Dymo. Both are "loud drivers" but I had an L5v that I stuffed with cotton and used for 2 seasons. I regret selling it. Good Luck.

You should go into a major retailer and just try everything they still carry that came out a year or two ago. If you are looking for something used, I personally like the 905R or 9015d (saw one in good shape at my local GG for $65).
