I think I have found a driver that might replace my 905R ...... finally.  The club is very light, and shaft is very long .... maybe 46-1/2"??  My ss is around 92 to 94 with 905R according to launch monitor, and after few hits with XL 270, my ss increased to 98 to 101.

Also, tried TM, Titleist, and Cobra side by side, and XL270 driver continue to amaized me.  Now i just have to convince my wife... so i can get one.

Superb driver, so good I got the 15' 3 wood.
Great shaft and the flight is awesome on both clubs.

If you try this driver and find you are unable to control it due to the length of the shaft, consider custom ordering one at the length you prefer.  Cleveland will build it so the flex and swing weight are right.  I play the 310 at 45" and my daughter plays the 270 at 44".  Both are excellent.

Plus one on the above. I've moved on from my Clevelands.
Too light, long and whippy for course play for me in the end.
Great driver for those needing length and lightweight.

Bumping up an old thread.

A little back ground on myself before I get to my question. I'm 57, driver SS of around 95mph. The other day, Cleveland had a demo session at my club and the fitter there put me with a CG Black stiff. The regular shaft didn't give me the carry the stiff did. The only thing that bothers me about this driver is the draw bias as I'm a natural drawer of the ball. I'm afraid I will always be fighting a hook. And I did at the demo session.

I'm wondering how the XL270 compares to the Black. I know the XL has a neutral face so that intrigues me. And it has the same shaft although black instead of gold.  If I can get the same carry with the XL270, I would buy one. I'm not unhappy with my Nickent Evolver, but the outdoor launch monitor showed I was getting 15 more yards of carry. Anyone have any experience with the Black vs xl270 or have an opinion? Thanks.

Wow! The Cleveland Xl270 is the now the longest driver I've ever hit. The head only weighed 189 grams!   Paired with an old Aldila LONGWOOD shaft (tour stiff )- 46.5 inches long with a normal grip. I added some lead tape to get the swingweight up to D4. Sits so square! easy to hit straight.   Try it.

I've had my Cleveland XL270 for about 3 years, but only played it for two years: the first and third.  In between I played their Classic in 290.  The Classic shaft was an inch shorter, at 45", and I controlled it better.  But I knew it was 10-20 yards shorter.  I've now improved my swing and speed, up to about 99 or so.  I can carry the XL270 about 240 or even 250, as opposed to the Classic290 at 210-220. The lighter weight and longer shaft added 20+ yards, and a better swing straightened my slice.  I also play the 17* 3W, which is the only fairway I ever hit straight .

Great club for seniors, but if your a man in your prime, the light weight will have to be tinkered with to make it worth it. Found myself duck hooking this club allot.

Well... Like the review above says 'great for seniors' which I am!! Got the HL 3 wood and really liked the feel, sound and results so thought I would give the driver a try as my driving has running hot and mostly cold just lately...Previous to this had always had a shorter driver in the 44 1/2" range, this one is 46" off the rack...

I gripped down teed it up and boom long straight... next 3 tee shots carbon copies... Driver is in the bag and I'am thinking why didn't I try this before now dummy me !!

Will update after a few more rounds...
