i think with the ball technology now flying so straight the need to 'work it" is not such an issue... it looks like these guys are hitting it straight at the middle of greens now.. plus the money they are playing for now whatever is the easiest seems to be winning out...

Seriously, these clubs would be great for anyone that doesn't mind looking at a club with some offset.  The wide soles would be great for anyone who takes deep divots, which I am pretty sure Choi and Beem do on occasion.  Personally I went with the I15's but I honesly don't think my scores would be much different with either, I have been thinking about picking up a G15 3 iron just to see if can hit a 3 iron again.

How do we know these aren't J-Spec or most of the offset hasn't been pressed out?

I'm sure they've got some grinds on them too. Not trying to be hater but if I knew they were basically untouched offset-wise, I'd be more enthusiastic about jumping on the G15 bandwagon.

Good to see all those G15's.  What a great club, surprising that more people don't accept it and still feel they have to hit blades.  While there are a lot of G15's out there, I'm sure there is a much larger population of S56's.

Can't speak for all of them but I can tell you that Jesper's G15's are standard heads with a slight leading edge grind.

Given the amount of offset shown in the last picture, I'm willing to guess that Garrett Willis' irons are fairly standard as well.

I understand the big deal with the status quo on playing blades but I've seen guys add as much shape to the ball with either a blade or massive cavity back iron. Not counting slices either, lol. In my mind a larger sweet spot on your irons means that you will simply be transferring more energy to the ball more often with the intended amount of shape on a miss. Blades are way too punishing considering todays advancements in club head, shaft and intended ball flight technology.

Everyone is hitting the ball much further than before at the cost of FIR/GIR so why can't we focus on improved accuracy with easier to hit clubs on TOUR? I always laugh when the only guy in our foursome playing blades missed %70 of the greens but boy can he spin the ball. While the rest of us who are in touch with reality are playing a game improvement iron with a low launching shaft. If a manufacturer designed a GI iron that was as freakin' cool and rare as the tour issue stuff it would sell very well. Honma and Maruman comes to mind.Posted Image

To each his own I say.

I've been ghostedPosted ImageTP Edition.

I saw that in the Transitions pics. There's a shot of him with his bag and clearly a set of S56s.

I'm pretty sure that in the Doral pics, he had I15s in the bag.

Considering how well he hits the Gs, I'm surprised at any switch, but hey if there wasn't any club ho-ing going on, we all wouldn't be here!

My theory - longer and longer courses require maximum height for a soft landing, increasing the chances of a relatively short birdie putt.  G15s will give you that major hang time...

Not only is the amount of G15's in play surprising me, but also how they are all in other manufacturer's staff bags.

easyyy, thanks for finding that out and workin' hard for us. Great info. Wow, I'm really torn now, trying to decide between S56's, Anser's, and now I've got to consider the G15. Gotta find me a demo day and hit 'em all.

Are the guys using these more low-ball-hitter types. I think the new fitting cart with the removable heads will finally allow us to demo the G15's in other shafts.

Can't speak for the others but Jesper is certainly not a naturally low ball hitter.

He's had his fair share of GI/SGI irons in the bag over the years ranging from Ping Eye 2's to standard X-12's. At the same time, he was using a set of Wilson Pi5's for several seasons.

Jesper can pretty much hit any shot with any iron. He is also one of the best ballstrikers you will ever see. He doesn't use SGI's for forgiveness, he uses them because they launch high and land soft. Because he plays most of his golf in the U.S, he doesn't have to combat any severe wind conditions so the higher you hit it, the better.
