That watch he is wearing in the photo takes at least a year to make by hand..... And there's a limited number of people in the world that can make that movement. While that's 575k is expensive Patek makes them costing well over 1mil and there is usually a couple year wait list.

The amount of work/detail and craftmanship that go into those is pretty amazing.
One of those things that you just wouldn't understand unless you were a mechanical watch nut.

About the price; in the banking world when you have guys getting millions of dollars in bonus money annually, the $575K is a drop in the bucket. The worth is in the ownership.
As a sponsorship deal, Bubba was given the watch. He did not buy it.
Yes, Rafael Nadal had one. Emphasis on HAD. He lost his.... Don't know the remainder of the story.

Okay, I'm good with not understanding it, though I do respect the sort of craftsmanship (and the fascination with craftmanship) of which you speak.

Word.
Though I am somewhat of a watch freak myself and am fascinated with their build (check out the one guy who makes the Gyrotourbillon for Jaeger, he has an online article that walks you through his design and making of the movement, I'll try to link it up). Unfortunately a MR or TourB will never be something I own. More than happy with my collection now and what I hope to add to it.

Such a waste of time and money on something so obsolete as a wrist watch.
