I never in a million years thought that I would put a Northwestern putter in my collection, but this blade
is stunning. It rivals any heel-shafted blade I have ever owned for fit and finish. There is a story
behind this putter, I just need to dig a bit to find it out.
Oh, currently in the bag and nearly forgotten, a Scotty Cameron Mid Sur, reshafted to 34 1/2" and saved
from a butcher-job. You can see some pics of it in a recent post of mine. The previous owner ground
the corners square and a fair amount of weight off of the sole at the heel of the putter. I rescued it,
brought it home and smoothed off the sharp parts. I polished it up, took out the dings on the topline
and put it in the bag. My first two rounds with it each had a 35' birdie putt drained with this bad rascal.
It was on the same hole, one week apart and both putts had at least 6 feet of break. Yes, it is earning
return trip to the course, this Sunday.
I have 3 additional putters in Byron Morgan's custom shop, currently being souped-up. A Wilson TPA XVIII,
(Faldo style TPA), a Wilson TPA X (heel shafted blade with a cavity and sightlines), and a Cleveland
Des. By Ben Crenshaw. Just got done chatting with Byron and finalizing what the direction for the trio.
If you have never had the opportunity to work with Byron, do it now. He is one of the best guys in the
putter business for handmades, as well as custom work. If you have a putter that you have
been debating on having refinished, get ahold of Byron and get it done. You won't be sorry.
I'll post pics when the 3 above putters are returned home and let you drool.
Hope nobody got bored with my list. It isn't a big money list, but it is all paid for and I can still eat. LOL
NEXT!
